A Pretty Pattern and Lots of Brown...

First of all; I know what you're thinking. ANOTHER indoor picture session? Yes, you must endure my non-decorated wall for now. It's just the perfect spot for me right now.. Taking outfit photos by yourself in an apartment community is much more terrifying than I would have thought. There are way too many people out and about at all times, and I'm an awkward person. So unless I were to have Douglas with me, taking the pictures.. I wouldn't want to be out in public at the moment. Maybe soon I will get brave enough. Or maybe I will finally put a picture up right there or something, and you would appreciate it more. :)
Either way, right across from me are two big windows that let in lots of natural light, it's just the perfect spot for right now.

Also, you're probably thinking that I should figure out something different to do with my arms once in awhile.. I'll work on it. haha.
So, anyway. I've been so drawn to black lately for some reason, that I forgot all about Fall's other favorite neutral: Brown! How did that happen? I don't know. Probably because I don't own even one pair of brown boots. It's true. And sad. Donate to my brown boots fund??? I did pull these neat little heels out of the trunk of my car (literally) to match with my outfit instead, though.

I'm not normally a heels person. I really wish I was, but my feet just cannot handle them. I'm actually wearing my house shoe moccasins right now instead, and thinking seriously about wearing them to class in a minute. The walk to and from my car earlier already killed me. Probably doesn't help that I have an extra 50 pounds on my back from my bag containing my laptop, books, folders, etc. I just love being a college student. :) haha. But I really like the texture of the shoes juxtaposed with the print of the dress, and the way they match the color of my tights perfectly. I was worried that would look a little weird, but I really love it.

Blah Blah.. red lipstick again.. blah blah.. hair needs a cut.. here's a necklace you've seen before. :)

Everything except my necklace and tights were thrifted.. The necklace is from Forever 21, and my tights are Vera Wang for Kohl's. I got them both a couple of years ago. :)

So one last ramble-y paragraph before I go.. Who's going to see Breaking Dawn at midnight?! Not me. :( I am going tomorrow evening after getting some school stuff done, though. I'm ridiculously excited.. but I will keep my less than enthusiastic opinions about Kristin Stewart to myself.. for now..
However, I will not be seeing Douglas at all tomorrow, pretty much.. so we're going out for a late date to a different movie tonight after my next class lets out. I'm pretty excited about that. Have a great night everyone!

Floral: From Summer to Fall

Earlier in the summer I bought this cute little dress, and I wore it almost every day. It's lightweight, comfortable, has great colors! I mean, I wore it all.the.time. I just wasn't blogging, then.. so I don't have any other pictures of it. haha. Anyway, I love it so much, I can't not wear it now that it's getting cooler. So I did what I've been doing for the last couple of weeks: added tights and a light cardigan, along with some new boots. :) New favorite outfit? Possibly. I didn't wear twice in one week, or anything..

You might remember this sweet little belt from posts past.. I got it last year at Christmas from one of Douglas' sisters. :) They already knew me so well. haha. I figured the butterfly fit right in with the floral, and since it gets dark so early now, I'm definitely not ready to give up color! The purple tights brought out all the right colors in this dress. I just love it!

Also, I have been addicted to red lipstick. It might be an issue. But I might not care. And I've been going waayyy light on the accessories end.. I'm just.. not that into them right now. Plus, with the ruffled neck line I always feel weird about adding on a necklace. Maybe it's just me?

And then... the boots. I love love love these boots! I got A's on my first three tests (now five!!) in school this semester, so I decided to treat myself.. I found these bad boys at Ross on sale for EIGHT DOLLARS. How is that even possible?? I've already gotten so much wear out of them.. they go with everything! Best purchase of the year, so far. If I end the semester with a 4.0 I'm buying myself a whole new outfit. :) One from a regular store, not the thrift store.. that's big for me! haha. Anyway..

Kind of Dressed...

Hey, there. You thought I was gone forever. Well, I have never been very good at keeping up with this thing, but I'm gonna give it another go. :) While I've been not blogging.. I have been getting dressed, kind of. I've mostly been recycling old outfits that have already been posted here and I know work already. So.. I've been lazy. Unimaginative I guess you could say. But I'm bored with that, and I'm ready to start shaking things up again. :)

But I'm getting a slow start... haha.

This kind of thing has been my go-to outfit. A dress, some tights (it's finally getting a bit chilly here in Texas), and some sort of jacket, cardigan, something. I don't have much time to think about it, really.. I work all the time, and when I'm not working.. I'm in school. But I use school as an excuse to get dressed up, so I just have to get back into the habit of taking time for pictures before heading out, I guess. :)

I will maybe find a more exciting backdrop for my photos sometime soon, until then.. get used to my blank wall. :)

Oh, but now that we're in this new apartment I plan on having some decorating posts, AND... Here's my biggest news..

Douglas and I are engaged! :D!!! My ring is being resized right now, though.. so that's why I'm not showing it off in the pictures today. haha. We will be waiting awhile before the wedding, but I can start throwing in some wedding ideas here and there now, as well. :) I'm really excited about all of these new changes and what it will mean for this blog. I hope to be able to grow as a blogger and really throw my passion into this.

Day Late, A Dollar Short..

So, there have been a lot of changes in my life recently. Everything except for moving, bills, work and school has been put on the back burner. But yes, a lot of exciting changes! First of all, I apologize for the weird, indoor pictures as my return to blogging.. but they were taken inside of my new apartment that the boyfriend and I have moved into together. :) I really love it, and I was thinking about doing a few design posts when I actually get around to decorating this place. That won't be for a while, though.. and kind of depends on some other stuff that I'm going to go into later.. anyway!
So, the move.. buying a washer and dryer (and new laptop! yay!), working constantly, enrolling in school... Busy Busy Busy! My first class is tomorrow. I'm excited, and nervous. It's crazy.

So, enough about my weird life.. let's get back to bloggy stuff. hah. So, I curled my hair.. which I hardly ever do because it takes so stinkin' long! And, unless I use about a pound of hairspray, it never stays curled very long. But I really like the way it looked. So I was glad I spent the time on it. :) I'm also glad I finally got pictures of this outfit. My birthday was back in June, and Douglas took me for a very special date the day before (because we worked on my bday). There's a little place called Golightly's Antiques that has this cute little tea room in the back. And he had surprised me with a brunch that was all set up when we got there. :) It was the sweetest thing, and I cried pretty much all through the brunch..

But anyway. haha. After we ate we walked around and looked at all the neat stuff. We found this necklace that's a pocketwatch with a rose on it, which is my name, so I obviously love them. Douglas bought it for me, and then I found this beautiful vintage, gauzy skirt. It's so flowy and soft. I love it.

Okay, one last thing.. I've been seriously thinking about switching things up. I like the name "Megan Loves" for my blog, because although This is mostly a style blog, I feel like it gives me the freedom to write about anything that I love. And I have so many ideas, from decorating posts, to nutrition (what I'm going to school for) and fitness, make up, hair, crafts, etc. I just feel like it's a kind of boring name. I didn't really put a whole lot of thought into it before just jumping in. I feel like if I were to start over with a new name and everything, that I'm not so far into this, that it wouldn't be a terrible thing for me to do right now. So, I'm taking suggestions! I'm thinking of either thinking up a nother name that can be all encompassing, or.. starting a couple of different blogs with specific titles and pertaining to only one or two things each. What sounds like the best idea? I need help here, ladies! haha.

Stuck-in-my-Head Saturday

My song for this week is by a band called Umbrellas, they're actually from Norman, Oklahoma! Right by me. Well, not now since I'm living in Texas, but when I was still in Oklahoma. lol. Anyway! I love their sound, I've actually been able to see them live once, but mannn. They're good. haha. Anyway, this is their song that's been stuck in my head all day! Enjoy!

Long Skirt, Grey, and Gold..

This is a skirt I had thrifted last year, that when I asked in a poll on CHICtopia, I was told I should shorten it. Luckily I got the suggestion to use safety pins, so I didn't completely cut it short and hem it up. Now that longer lengths are in, I was able to take the pins out, iron it and style it up this way, again! :) I'm gonna put pictures at the bottom of the other times I've styled up this skirt. I need to start showing off my remixes, since like... all of my clothes are remixed. haha.

Isn't the belt beautiful? :) It was a Christmas present from one of Douglas' sisters. They got me some pretty awesome stuff. I just can't believe this is the first time I've worn this for a blog post. I also have an awesome clutch that should get a showcase pretty soon. It was my first time to meet either of them, and it's like they already knew me. lol. So keeping with the gold-look of the butterfly I wore a necklace you've seen a hundred times, and a gold cuff I had gotten from the thrift store not too long ago. I think I paid about.. ohh.. thirty cents for it. :]

My shoes are actually new, though! I went to Target looking for black pants for work, got frustrated and bought myself these instead. Much better purchase. They were on sale for $15 and I think they're beautiful. I just wish I could've gotten a better picture. The lighting just makes the coloring look all weird. But I love them. They're suede, and of course I bought them on a rainy day, and of course it rained for another two days. I was so excited to get to put them on today!!

Okay, I think I've rambled on long enough, here. This next week will be a little crazy, I'm finishing my last week at my current job, and training at night for my neewwww job! It's not what I was wanting to leave my current place for (I'll still be serving at a restaurant). But I feel like it's a better place for me, and I'll be happier there while I'm still lookin for something different to do. I do have a certain post in the works that will be up this week, there just won't be any outfit photos I'm sure. Happy Monday, everyone! I hope this week is a good one.

I don't know how many of you have done this; woken up and instantly had a song stuck in your head? Douglas told me I was weird. haha. But this happens to me all the time. The other morning it was "I Try" by Macy Gray. Luckily I had something a little different pop in there this morning. Say Anything is a pretty well-known band, I think. They are one of my absolute favorites. I can't help it. I think Max Bemis writes miracles. hah. This song is off of their newest self-titled, and I think it's just beautiful, and haunting, and sweet all at the same time. Give it a listen. :]

Fashion Beauty Friend Friday: Outside Influences.

1. What magazines do you subscribe to?
I only have an actual subscription to Glamour, which was taken over by me from my mom. haha. But I read Cosmo regularly and of course go through Vogue, InStyle, ELLE, etc. Oh! and INDIE, the online independent style mag where I even first LEARNED about style bloggers!

2. Do you watch any fashion TV shows?
I like What Not To Wear, Project Runway, Rachel Zoe Project..

3. Beyond blogs, what websites do you frequent for fashion
inspiration?
Well, I get daily e-mails from StyleCaster, and Splendora, I browse through users on CHICtopia, and from there it's just whatever I google, and wherever that takes me. haha.

4. Advertisements play a huge role in forming public opinion about a
product or brand… what ads do you like and why?
I don't know, really. I like clean and simple as a rule for most things, Apple usually has really good commercials for their products, even though I don't own any of them. haha. The H&M commercials always get my attention, but then they make me sad since there's not one near me. :(

5. Do you own any fashion books?
I actually don't, really. I have a couple of random beauty/style rule/makeup type books that I've picked up at thrift stores. But that's about it.

I'm goin' casual today. And you'll have to forgive me, this is my super sick face. So, not much enthusiasm going on. I woke up with a ridiculously sore throat and a runny nose. Summer colds are not my favorite. :( But I put on some clothes, anyway, and took my grandma out to dinner for a late Mother's Day. :)

I know this doesn't look like a very warm-weather outfit, even though it's like, 88 degrees still after 8 p.m. Earlier in the day I was sans cardi, and had shorts instead of jeans. But I get cold everywhere I go, so I had to cover up a little bit before going to the restaurant.

This necklace is really the whole reason behind my outfit, and why I forced myself to take pictures through my sickness and ridiculously full tummy. Too.Much.Seafood! hah. Anyway, I got this in the mail today, from my best friend, Amanda! She's so sweet. :) I seriously need new jewelry. That's why I haven't really worn any in any of my posts, I'm afraid I've already worn out everything I have. Time to start stocking up. But thank you again my dear for this lovely gem of a necklace. :) I will wear it TONS. I love that it's pretty on both sides.

Besides the necklace, my favorite part of the outfit is actually the part you can't see...

The back of my top! haha. It's such a neat and unexpected detail. So pretty. :)

So, anyway. I hope everyone had a good Monday (is there such a thing?). I have a date tonight with the rest of this Water for Elephants book, a warm bath, and my Theraflu. Ahhh.

You know when you have one of those days where you just wanna throw on some jeans and a t-shirt and call it a day? Well I had a whole.. *counts days from last post* well, over 2 weeks of those days. Oops. The weather has been crap, and you know.. insert other excuses here. haha. Anyway.

I don't think I've ever worn this top before, it's of course, another thrifted find. I really liked the pattern with the texture of the shorts. However, the shirt was a liiiittle too short and I had to keep tucking it in all night. Win some, lose some. I guess it's not a very festive outfit, but this is what I wore yesterday on Cinco de Mayo. Douglas and I went out to dinner with Mary and Andrew at a local Mexican restaurant, then we all came back and watched Due Date. Nothing spectacular, but it was a great night. :) Did any of do anything special last night?

I Like Your Sleeves...

First of all, I love this skirt. Second of all, I love these shoes. Third of all, this top cost me one dollar. :)

Yep, true story. I decided to check out a little resale shop I had never been to, and this beauty was on the sale rack. I got another Banana Republic top, and the Apt 9 dress that was in my last outfit post. It was a nice place, but because everything was designer/name brand it was a little more expensive than I care for. I'm kind of cheap. haha.

And, that's about it! haha. Short and sweet. I kept this very simple because it was 93 degrees today. Yes, in April. I shudder at the thought of June, July, and.. ughh.. August. This summer is going to be interesting. Plus, I had an interview! :] I wanted something that looked nice, but also showed that I dress a little funky.I feel really good about how it went. I guess we'll just wait and see though! I just really want to move on from where I am.

Saturday Special: Cruelty-Free Drugstore Finds..

Hey guys! I don't believe that I've ever done a non-outfit post. but I'm really wanting to branch out a little bit, and I have quite a few ideas under my belt. This being the first of them! I don't know if I'll keep the non-outfits to just Saturday, or switch it around, or if I'll even have posts for every week, yet. I guess we'll just see! Anyway.. I wanted to start out with this topic because I've always been a passionate gal. I once told my mom not to leave the water running when she brushes her teeth, because if we use up all the water, there won't be any left for the whales in the ocean!

In college I had to write an essay, and do an oral presentation, and I got to choose any topic I wanted! So I did a lot of research on animal testing done by cosmetics companies and it hit me pretty hard. I boycotted any companies that still did it, and I passed out fliers to all my friends (and strangers) and showed a pretty intense video as part of my oral presentation. As time went on, I kind of fell away from that. I got lazy, and just bought whatever I could afford, or sounded good. Not too long ago, however, I got the bug again. And I decided to re-commit myself to buying cruelty-free. I did a lot of research, because.. yeah.. You can find plenty of more expensive makeup brands that don't test on animals, but I don't necessarily have that kind of cash flow coming in all the time. So I need something that will satisfy my pockets and my morals. Here's a few brands that I've found, the products I most enjoy from them, and what I think about their performance.

Physician's Formula Revlon

It's kind of sad, but out of all the actual make up brands that are sold in drugstores/Target/WalMart or wherever.. The Revlon/Almay company and Physician's Formula are the only ones that don't test on animals. Luckily they have REALLY great products!! I love the ColorStay foundation because it lasts long, have SPF right in it, and it covers really well. Which is important for a girl like me with not-so-perfect skin. Their PhotoReady makeup is awesome as well, it has a light shimmer to it, that doesn't look glittery at all, but reflects light in a beautiful way. For powder I like the Physician's Formula Mineral Wear because it's light, but sets my makeup, and keeps the oil to a minimum without feeling cakey or blocking my pores. Both brands also have blush, eyeshadow, lipsticks, everything you could possible need at great prices, and everything I've tried has looked really nice. :)

Burt's Bees

Like I said earlier, I have some problem skin. I have tried everything on the market. Seriously. I was at the point where I was going to just give up and go to the doctor for it. However, I decided to give this scrub from Burt's Bees a shot, since it's all natural and of course, cruelty-free, whereas most face washes and stuff are made by companies who do test their products on animals. I have to say, I LOVE this stuff! It has a kind of weird smell, but it's not strong. .it's just an obvious "natural" smell. But it makes my skin feel reallyyyy soft, and I have not had any major breakouts since using this. I do have a pimple on my chin right now, but I got lazy and haven't washed my face properly. I should do that tonight. I would say, though, that it's a pretty thick scrub, and isn't super great at actually removing your makeup. But Almay makes these awesome wipes that remove all of your makeup, mascara and all, easily and gently. I would recommend using one of those before washing your face with the scrub.

Kiss My Face

I just recently found this moisturizer, but I'm really diggin' it. It's all-natural like the Burt's Bees stuff, and it can be used on your face or body. This specific one has Alpha Hydroxy Acids which are found in fruits and cane sugar. The acids help the turnover of cells speed up, so that you're getting a great exfoliation and unblocking pores, and allowing the new skin cells to grow. This is a very important thing for girls with problem skin, and everyone, really. Exfoliation is necessary! This is just a wonderful way to do it naturally and keep your skin looking great!

Tresseme

For my shower time... TRESemme makes some WONDERFUL hair products! They have every kind of shampoo and conditioner you could possibly need, plus mousses, hairspray, even dry shampoo. I haven't tried that, yet. But I definitely plan on it. I was using Aussie for awhile, but they're not cruelty-free, so I found out Tresemme was and made the switch. The bottles were about a dollar more, each, than what I was using.. but they're huge bottles! For a dollar more, I got almost twice the product! Totally worth it.

St. Ives

St. Ives is my favorite company for buying body washes. They're luxurious, and there's every kind you could think of. Right now, I'm using the Energizing Citrus, and I just love the smell. Their products are ALSO all-natural, and they have face products, lotions, and of course the body wash, everything you could ever need, and I would stand behind every single one of their products. :)

Pure Silk

The last thing on my list, is something that I bought out of necessity, and then was happily surprised to find out that it wasn't tested on animals! It hadn't even crossed my mind to think about my shaving cream, mostly because I don't normally use it. I had gotten spoiled by Schick Intuition. The razors with the big bar of cream right around the blades. I think their company might be owned by Proctor-Gamble, though. Which is a no-no for me. Plus the replacement blades are pretty darn expensive. So, in a pinch.. I ran to the Dollar General of all places to pick up some throw-away razors and just bought the cheapest cream, which just so happened to be this. It wasn't until I had used it for about a week that I thought to read the back of the can.. and there it was. "This product not tested on animals". I was so excited! And even though using the old standard cream from a can takes a bit longer than my old razors with it built in, I think it's worth it. And this cream is perfect for my extremely sensitive legs. They get dried out easily, and I haven't had that problem with this stuff. :]

So, there it is! What do you think? Is animal testing something you care about? Could you ever commit to buying only cruelty-free cosmetics?? Or do you just buy whatever you are drawn to? Either way is fine with me. I'm no longer a crusader, I just choose to buy these because it's what I like. And the products just happen to be great quality. It's a win-win in my book! Blue, Yellow, and Black

What a lovely Tuesday. This is my only day off this week (again) but I really enjoyed it. I lazed around a little bit, then got dressed and went to the library. I returned some books, and then checked out a few books on blogging, since I know there's still ssooo much I have to learn! I'm starting with Blogging Heroes by Michael A. Banks. It's pretty interesting so far. 30 interviews with top bloggers in all different fields, giving advice and providing important information. After that I went to McAlister's Deli for a late lunch and sat out on the patio drinking iced tea and reading, just enjoying the pretty weather. :) I also got the yard mowed for my grandma! Productive day. Yes!

Anyway.. on to the outfit. You've seen the cardigan 389745034952037 times before, I know. But it went with the yellow in the print of this gorgeous dress. I pulled the black out with the belt and sandals, and then the flower clip I got for a dollar at Michael's. A random, but nice find.

Black Plus Brown Equals?

I'm not sure how most people feel about the whole.. mixing brown with black controversy. It's not really an issue I have. I've just never done it before for some reason. But then this thrifted beauty of a skirt came into my life, and it already both black AND brown in the print! I just had to put stuff with it. So there ya go. Brown top, black belt, black shoes. Gold necklace that is similar to brown with a black accent in it! I didn't really get a close up picture of my necklace, though. So just take my word for it. I also didn't wear any other accessories for some reason. Maybe accidentally on purpose? I don't know. In the back of my mind I just felt like the outfit didn't need anything else. Maybe I'm just lazy. We'll never know. (I'm pretty lazy)

Luckily the skirt is actually a "skort" thing with built in shorts underneath. Because my goodness it was WINDY when we tried to take these pictures before going into the Chipotle to my right that you can't see to stuff our faces. But I digress. We got quite a few "outtake" pictures that I won't scare you with. Let's just say a lot of hair, and crazy faces.

Strangely Familiar.. (Pink Skirt, DIY Scarf, Rose Pattern)

Yes, I just wore this skirt not too long ago, but after wearing it that first time, I want to pair it with everything! It's sooo comfy, and goes well with a lot of stuff. But really, I just made this T-shirt scarf that I found out about through Made This/Love This that was started by the awesome Indiana, of Adored Austin. :] And I wanted something simple and easy to wear it with. Ta-da!

I tied it in a knot, because untied it was too long, and doubled up it was too short and bulky. So I thought this way solved the problem pretty well. It was suuuuper easy to make, and i want some in all different colors and lengths now!!

Uhmm.. not a whole lot to say today! I like my anchor shirt, and my floral skirt, and my green wedges. And I put them all together! hah. This whole week has been grey and cold, so I was excited to see the sun come out and warm up the air enough for a Spring-time look. Also, I painted my nails myself last night. I didn't get too much of a close up, so you couldn't see how uneven they really are. But dangit, I was proud of myself. :]

I know, I know.. but I couldn't help it. Who doesn't love a little Cake on a Monday afternoon? :)

Also.. what the heck happened to our awesomely warm weather here, Texas?! Sheesh. It only got up to about 46 degrees yesterday (which is when I took these pictures). I could see my breath when I was out there. blech. BUT! It was kind of a blessing, because I had worn this outfit last month some time, and didn't get pictures.. I love this jacket, SO much. But it got too warm for me to wear it, way too quickly. So I quickly pulled it out of my closet yesterday and snapped a few photos before going out to dinner with some friends.

When I found this jacket, I instantly fell in love.. I got it for ridiculously cheap at a thrift store, duh. haha. But then I started wondering what in the world I would wear a BRIGHT blue, long jacket with. So I decided to keep my actual outfit very low-key, and threw on the scarf for some pattern. I think it turned out pretty well, and was great for a night of Buffalo Wild Wings. hah. :]

Crazy Pattern, Pastels, and Wedges..

I've gone back into my "Wear these things or get rid of them pile" for this outfit. I got the skirt during winter time, so it's not really fair of me to threaten that when it hasn't even been the right weather for it. But I think today proved to me that I will definitely get plenty of wear out of it, so I think we're safe on that one. The top I got because the pattern is really interesting and dynamic.. but that's given me a hard time finding something to pair it with. Luckily today was perfect weather for this skirt, so I decided to pick out the pink and yellow from the top and play off of that, while leaving my shoes a neutral. I think it turned out pretty well. :)

This cardigan is something I have to tell myself NOT to wear sometimes. It's just so darn cute, and is the perfect shade of yellow. I think I could find something to wear it with every single day of the week. But you would get sick of that, so be glad I can tear myself away from it sometimes. But it was just too perfect to not put with this top and skirt. Also, I think we're officially to No-Tights Weather now. I have to get used to exposing my leg skin again. Oh No!

Wedges are definitely going to be go-to shoe wear until it starts getting cold again, I think. I have an issue with heels.. even though they are insanely cute usually, and make outfits more interesting.. I just have really terrible pain in the balls of my feet sometimes that doesn't sit well with anything with a heel on it. However, wedges help take some of the pressure off that area of my foot, so they don't hurt nearly as bad, and I haven't found a wedge I don't like. So I'm starting up a collection. haha. So yes, lots of floral(of course), Lots of color combined with neutrals, and lots of wedges! I just love spring. What will be your go-to items for this beautiful season?

I think I'm going to take a moment and toot my own horn. I use a regular ol' point and shoot camera. I would like something nicer, but I haven't saved up the money yet, and I don't really know a whole lot about them anyway. I usually just use the plain "Auto" setting when taking my pictures. And then I go in and spend awhile in Picnik editing them to make them look similar to these. Today, however, I got brave and decided to use the manual setting to set my own white balance, ISO, and the red/blue.. mostly because the sun was shining right on my face and camera lens, making everything look completely washed out. So, long story short.. I went out on a limb today, and these may be my favorite pictures I've ever taken. :) soo.. *toot! toot!* haha.

Today is sooo beautiful! But ridiculously windy, so I had to throw some shorts on under this for modesty.. just in case I don't catch the skirt quickly enough. haha. I did decide to go with something just easy and simple today since I had to work earlier (I wear a uniform) and Douglas is at work tonight. So I haven't been doing much. I love the fullness of this dress, but I always like to wear a top over it because of the babydoll shape that I'm not too fond of, and it has tiny spaghetti straps. But it's just so comfortable and light. And of course, my wonderful, classic TOMS. Can these things be any better?

No, there is nothing green in this outfit at all. These are actually from yesterday. But rest assured, I am wearing green today, it's just not that exciting. haha. Green t-shirt with a hood, jeans, and some green Roxy slip on shoes. Pretty basic. Anyway..

This vest and leopard top were two more of my "If I don't wear them soon, I'm getting rid of them" items.. I think I should start doing this with more of my clothes.. I tend to stick with the same pieces, and limit myself a lot. Where as now, I'm forcing myself out of a comfort zone for the sake of really cheap thrift store finds. Perfect! Also, the elephant brooch has nothing to do with this outfit, but I thought I'd add it in for some wow. Ya know? Because I don't. hah.

I Realized Something About Myself Today..

I have SO MUCH FLORAL. haha. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but I realized that a lot of my patterned pieces definitely fit into that category. I do have other patterns, but I'm just always drawn to floral. However, I've been cleaning out my closet, organizing, and getting rid of things, and I decided to put this skirt in the preliminary pile, since I haven't worn it the whole time I've had it! It was thrifted, therefor ridiculously cheap, so it doesn't hurt my feelings much. But why have something you never wear? So I've put aside pieces that must be worn within the next month, or else they're being donated. I figured I'd start off with the simplest thing in that pile. :]

I think it's hard to tell, but my shirt is a very very light pink color. I love the softness of it, and it picks up the lighter flower colors in the skirt, but I wanted to bring it down a notch with black and metal accessories.

I saw a tutorial for this simple, pretty hair-do on A CUP OF JO, and instantly fell in love. It's so easy to do! And looks just girly, and kind of romantic. I had to give it a try today, I thought it would go well with the soft, light pink of the top. What do you think?

Also, I've been wearing the heck out of these shoes, and this is the first time I've actually gotten a photograph of them. They're just cute little jazz shoes, with metal details, and they're so comfortable! I love my inexpensive Ross store finds.

Cloudy Sky, Striped Skirt.

Oh, what a day! This is my one day off from work today and it's been cloudy and grey. But surprisingly warm, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much, right? It was actually like, 80 degrees for awhile. So definitely warm enough for bare legs, which it looks like I have. But it's an optical illusion. I love these Urban Outfitters tights. They're light enough for warm days when I'm not quite ready to just jump into the bare-legged pool yet. My legs have been covered for so long, I don't know how to uncover them. haha.

I'm really loving the way this outfit came out. I've been coveting this skirt since I first saw it worn on Elizabeth of Delightfully Tacky, so I finally broke down and got my very own. :) I've already worn it a few times, and this has been my favorite so far. However, my top is actually a romper, and I didn't think about basic things like uhmm.. using the restroom. It's a bit uncomfortable. And inconvenient. hahah. But having the shorts under the skirt made me not so worried about the windy-ness we had today. Which is always nice.

I wish you could tell what my lipstick looks like a little bit better. I have become OBSESSED with this stuff. It's made by La Paz, and the lipstick is so amazing. It lasts all day, and the kind that I have is a white stick of lipstick that transforms to a very complimentary color of pink, depending on your skin tone.. They have a few different ones that change from different shades of pinks, reds, corals, magentas. Pretty much everything you could imagine. I've never really been a lipstick wearer, but I've been wearing this pretty much every day, and it's kind of bright! So it's brought out a courage in me I didn't even know I had. :]

Change of Scenery.

This is my favorite area around where I live. That's the library right behind me, where Douglas and I spend a lot of time together, and then to my right are cute little shops and restaurants. With ridiculously nice apartments behind there, and above the shops. It's a neat place. So I got brave enough to recruit Douglas to be photographer for the day (thank you darling!) and shoot photos in public! Gasp!

However, I'm pretty awkward about it, and it definitely shows in my face. haha. Oh well. I'll get used to it the more he helps me out. Hopefully he'll be willing to, anyway. ;-) I don't feel like I was too much of a tyrant, though.

I'm super in love with my outfit today. I get so happy when that happens. The shorts were a recent purchase, bought online through Forever 21. I got a few other things with them that I can't wait to showcase, too. But I've been coveting the paper bag waist shorts I had seen on other girls, and I finally had to give in to the purchase. haha. My shoes are also BRAND NEW. Douglas had to go to Payless for work shoes, and I just so happened to know they had these there, I felt they perfected my look. So I splurged again and got these and another pair of wedges. Ahh, shopping. :]

Spring Revival.

Okay, so I guess it's not technically Spring, yet. But it does feel like it in Texas! So, I'm gonna say that March 1st counts. And guess what else March brought in? Me! I'm back to taking outfit photos and what nots. Finally.

It definitely feels good, I love this blog! And I've had it about a year now! I'm a terrible blog mother. Forgetting her birthday and all that. But it was back in February sometime. So, like in my own life when a birthday represents a new opportunity for me, so it shall be for this blog as well. I have so many ideas, and I'm really hoping that I'll be able to crack down on myself, and set some will power aside to make myself actually stick this out. I just get so ADD about things, and I want to jump around from one project to another, but I do love this, so I'm going to do my best and see where it can go. Anyway! Enough rambling...

It's obviously been awhile since I've been in front of a camera, so I decided to start off slow with a pretty simple outfit. Button up, skinny jeans, heels, a couple nice accessories, and there we go. :] I'll get back into the swing of things soon enough. I can feel it.

I am also planning on ramping up the blog design and layout pretty soon. Hopefully. So! In conclusion, lots of changes, lots of great things to look forward to!

I wanted to let everyone know that I'm not dead, or something. I'm still here, hanging out in the background.

I realize this is my first post of the year, and it has nothing to do with what I'm wearing today. (Work uniforms are not that photogenic) I just wanted to finally check in and let you guys know that I will be back to regular posting, and well, actually posting regularly instead of so sporadically like it was. I've been taking this time off to reevaluate, and figure out where I want to take this blog, and how I want everything to be done. I'm learning, researching, and (hopefully) growing.

I hope to come back and make this blog as awesome as I feel it can be, so I am taking this time off to get everything straightened out.

Also, I've had some computer issues, my USB ports not recognizing my camera and what not. So I've also been working on getting all that fixed also. Anyway!! I will be back soon. Please stand by...

So, Here's the Deal...

I did finish my 30 for 30 remix, I just wasn't able to document it. So, from here on out, my blog posts will be back to just random outfits that I create. I wore those 30 items to make 30 outfits, time just wasn't on my side, and I'm pretty upset about it. I came up with some pretty good stuff. haha. But because there were outfits I really liked, I will be re-wearing them to put on here, they just won't be in a sequential remix pattern. :( But, I'm still proud of myself for at least finishing it for myself, and knowing that I can do it. It was a great experience, and I'm sorry I couldn't share more of it with you, but NEXT TIME. It will happen. :]

So, anyway, on to the outfit. The skirt and shoes were still part of my 30 items! hah. Just a new shirt thrown into the mix. Well, not new. At all. It's a few years old, actually. And I love it. Pearl snaps, a pretty floral pattern, and I love the color scheme of it. I know because these photos are kind of dark, and my hat kind of blends into my hair, you can't really see it. But it's also a few years old, and also a substantial part of my winter wardrobe.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like this has a hippie/cowgirl blend feel to it. crazy? maybe. I like it.

I have a couple of exciting things coming up this week. I will try my best to be a good blogger, and take photographs and what-not. I'm not making any promises, though. ;]

Outfit ten! I am officially 1/3rd of the way through. haha. Most of you are almost done. Oh well. I know it's been like, a month already.. but I'm still not used to it getting dark so early. I just run out of time. haha.
I should probably not be so lazy.. yeah.. I'm thinking that would do it.

I've also been kind of.. blehhh lately. Which makes me want to just sit for at least an hour when I get off work every day. And then the sun goes down before I know it. That's life.

We did go have some fun last night.. a bar in Denton has 80s night every Thursday, so we went out to enjoy that. I haven't danced so much in a looong time. :] And I should really be getting ready to go see my friend Mary. She's had a pretty rough week, also.. So we're gonna do some major cheer up tonight.

It's Party Time!

Tonight is my friend's 21st birthday partyyy. We're having an outside bonfire-type get together. Nothing fancy or big, just something cool to celebrate him turning another year older. I love birthdays so much! :] So anyway, this outfit is mostly in preparation for being outside for a few hours after the sun goes down. It's been in the 60s the last couple days here, though. So I've definitely been enjoying the awesome weather! It just gets pretty chilly at night.

I like my makeup in person, but I don't think it photographed very well. That's okay, though. I got compliments at work. That's always nice. Also, these pants are awesome, but the pattern is very subtle, so here's a close up..

Where Do the Hours Go?

Happy late Thanksgiving! :]
This post was actually my plan for Wednesday night, however.. I just ran out of time. I promised to help with my aunt's dogs while she was out of town, and I was trying to get ready to go to Doug's mom's house for Thanksgiving festivities, and trying to bake a cake to take over there with us (which you will see more of in a moment..). Do other bloggers know about some extra hidden hours in the day that I'm not seeing? haha. By the time I get off of work, it would be too late for me to shower and get changed and ready and have time for me to take pictures before the sun goes down, so I apologize for the absence, I just haven't been able to find that time.. Anyway, enough complaining..

Outfit number 8! Items number 2, 15, 20, and 28

I only have two pictures of this outfit, because.. I'm not gonna lie, the across the street neighbors were in and out of their house, carrying things to and from their car, and staring me down. I am an awkward person, and I like to do things with.. not other people around... haha. So I got nervous, and said.. "Oh, this will be good enough", and went back inside. To make my cake. And clean. :]

I made a rum cake to take to Doug's mom's house, because apparently it is rude to show up without something. haha. When I had told my grandma my Thanksgiving plans.. her first words were "Well, what are you going to take with you?" I had no idea. So, we used the ol' fail safe. This is a ridiculously easy cake to make, and it requires little ingredients, really. So I thought it would be fun to document, and share the recipe with all of you. It's really great for the holidays, and although I didn't get this up in time for Thanksgiving, Christmas is right around the corner! So, here we go..

I hope you can see that first picture clearly enough. But I'll still do a quick run-down of everything.

1 package of butter golden cake mix

1 package of instant vanilla pudding

(the recipe says you can use actual rum, but it really doesn't taste as good, so just go with this..)

1 cup water, and 1/4 teaspoon of rum extract

1/2 cup oil

4 eggs

Mix all of that together until you get most of the lumps out, while also preheating your oven to 325 degrees, and greasing a Bundt pan. Pour the mixture in, and bake it for 50-60 minutes. I put mine in for 52 minutes, and it came out perfect. :]

Then, when it is nearly done, you will make your glaze.. it requires:

1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup margarine, 1/2 cup water, 1/4 teaspoon rum extract.

Boil that for about 3-4 minutes, and then pour over the cake after poking a bunch of little holes in the top with a toothpick to help it soak in, also.. do this pretty soon after pulling it out of the oven.

Let it cool for about 30 minutes, and then...

You have a gorgeous cake, that not one person has ever said is gross. Well, no one that I know. Unless people just think my feelings get hurt too easily to tell me the truth. But seriously, it's delicious.

whew! So, there you have it.. you are free to cook at will, and impress important people with your amazing baking skills like I enjoy doing. :D

And then hopefully people will bring you presents and flowers because of the love they have for your newfound baking glory!

Yes, Doug showed up with flowers. Not because of my cake though. :( He's just a really good guy. haha.
Anyway! We had a wonderful day together, being lazy, and eating way too much amazing food that his mom made, watching football, and Christmas movies.. And then we went out to see MegaMind 3D. It was an exceptional movie, I must say. So, overall a very lovely experience this year. And then right back to work today, and another double tomorrow. And I won't be off again until Thursday. I will try my best to not disappear this time, but I can't make any promises. haha.

Technicolor Dreams

This is a pretty loud outfit, I think. But I also don't care. :] I really love color.. and tonight is that concert, and I'm so ridiculously excited. We didn't preorder tickets, though. So it better not be sold out! Ack. I'm thinking positive. It says on the venue's website that they don't allow cameras, so we'll have to see if I end up with any photos from tonight, but regardless, this is what I'm wearing.

I'm too excited, so I don't have much to say, but that ring was another one dollar purchase.. My best friend and I both got matching ones (with different colors) as an impromptu best friend ring. I love that kind of thing. That's probably why we're best friends.. because we're both kinda corny. haha. Love you, Emiley. ;]

So anyway.. do you all have fun plans for the weekend? I'm gonna have fun tonight, but then I work a double tomorrow. :( So working all day on minimal sleep is never fun, but usually worth it. ;]

Today was the epitome of a beautiful autumn day. It was a tad bit chilly in the shade, but I could've laid in a sunny patch of grass for the entire afternoon if I was able to. In honor of the gorgeous weather, I decided to trek to a new location (a walking path near my house) and try out different shots using the sunlight. These are experimental pictures, so there's quite a few, and some are better than others, but it was a great way to kill an hour. :) so, without further ado.. Outfit number 6! I can't believe how far along some of you girls are. haha

(I like how you can see the moon in this picture. Seeing the moon while the sun is up is always kinda fun for me, am I weird? lol)

The sparrow necklace, and bangle bracelet both only cost me a dollar, and I got the multi-chain necklace on sale for about 3 bucks. :] Not too shabby.

I have to tell you that I am EXTREMELY excited about tomorrow night, I will be going to Palladium Ballroom in Dallas to see Saves the Day, Motion City Soundtrack, and one of my absolute favorite bands... Say Anything. I've seen them once before about.. 5 years ago.. but they've since come out with a new album that I'm obsessed with, and I can't wait to hear it played live. I think Max Bemis is amazing. So anyway, I will try my best to be a good blogger, and take lots of photos, and have a concert update very soon after.

It's a Boy!

Not for me, though! I went to a friend's baby shower tonight :) It was lots of fun! We had margaritas (those of us who are not pregnant, anyway), and nachos.. and Cody made a cake called "Better Than Sex Cake" And it is. haha. We played tons of games, although I didn't win anything. :( But that's okay. I had a great time! I love baby showers. We also had 2 girls give birth to their babies within the last week, too. So I've spent lots of time at the hospital as well. haha. Babies everywhere. I'm just glad they're not mine. ;-)

So, side note.. it is storming right now, and the power just went out. :) Thank goodness for laptop batteries lasting at least a little while longer after it's unplugged. So, I guess I will hurry this a bit. I don't have a whole lot to say about this outfit. But I really like it. And you can't tell so much in the pictures, but I have purple tights on under the black ones, so it makes a little purple glow that I really enjoy. Oh, and I found this humongous fence to stand in front of. New background! Yay! At the end of my photo session, I looked to my left and found another cool place that I will use next time. :)

Day 4 of 30. Who Needs a Fancy Title, Anyway?

It got ridiculously cold! There were some storms in the morning, then the sun came out, then the temperature dropped about twenty degrees. Crazy! And I think it's gonna stay cold until at least Monday. Blahh.I was excited for fall weather, I am NOT excited for winter weather. But, that's life!

My hair kept attacking my face because of the wind.. It made for a cold, frustrated Megan. But, I braved it out to get a little bit caught up on this whole 30 for 30 thing! haha. I do promise that my photos will get more interesting. I decided that if you're only going to be seeing the same 30 items for the next 30 (now twenty six) posts.. that I should start to mix up my backgrounds a little bit. I have enlisted the help of my dear Douglas to step in as photographer on the days he is able, so that I can explore Ft Worth and Dallas a little bit for some exciting new locales, and not look like a weirdo in some downtown setting with my tripod. haha.

I just made cookies. :) To be fair, they were the alreadymadebreakthemapartandputthemonapanandbake kind of cookies. But it still counts, right? Yeah, I thought so, too. And while I'm being honest.. I don't really like these photos, either. Since the weather has been so warm still.. Our covered, wooden porch is still crawling with wasps, which are my biggest fear, and I was trying to work around them. But ya gotta do, what ya gotta do. And I feel behind a little bit, already. So here is outfit number three. And no, I did not wear it last night, and then again today to go meet my grandmother for lunch, who does that? Oh, me.

Yes, I met my Gran ( my dad's mom) in Denton this morning to catch up a bit. We haven't seen each other in about five years, so it was really nice to get a few hours of chat time. We had a lovely time touring the UNT campus (our cousin is dean of the journalism school..which I might apply to) and then going to this neat little place off campus called Mr. Chopsticks. She's vegetarian, so I picked it out for the simple fact that they have over 20 different veg-friendly items on the menu. I had sushi. :) yummm.

This scarf was actually cut off of a shirt (number 13 in my 30 list). But I wanted to be able to wear the shirt with other things that the scarf might not go with, so I just cut it off, and voila! Two separate items. haha Very clever, no? Now I can wear the scarf with my dress.. How awesome.

I don't have a whole lot to say about this outfit, once again. It's kind of a cop-out. haha. I'm just so scared of getting bored half-way through. That's why this is my first time doing the challenge. Next time I'll be a seasoned pro. :)

Keepin' it casual today. I don't want to get carried away with mixing and matching lots of stuff right away and then ending up with nothing to look forward to. Plus, it was actually pretty warm today.. so lots of layers would have been silly. :)

So.. this is my favorite, simple little necklace. I'm pretty sure I've already said a million times, but I got it at a festival in Grapevine, TX called Grapefest. Clever name, right? haha. It's a great place to try out tasty wines, see some awesome local art, and eat yummy carnival-style funnel cakes and what not. I got the necklace from a booth set up by the company called Tiles Across Texas. They have beautiful home decor and neat jewelry. :) Then the little heart ring came from Hot Topic. lol. I've rarely found things there that I like since my teen years have been over (except my monroe jewelry), but this was nice, and I had a gift card. The belt was thrifted.. it probably cost me a dollar.. and... I'm not wearing the boots! haha.

Oh, and the hat is Empyre, which means it probably came from Zumiez. I can't remember if I bought it, or if it was given to me. Oh well. Also, I really need to paint my nails. They've been the trendy color of chipped black for far too long. :]

So, guess who completely disregarded the whole time change thing, until it was after 5, and was just leaving work. I walked outside and thought, "Why is it already so dar- OMG I'musedtoitnotbeinglikethisuntilSIXoclock!". That was pretty much it. So I rushed home and got changed, and didn't wash my hair (no time!). I also did not have a first outfit pre-picked(or any outfits, really). So.. this is it! hah. My yellow cardigan, lace cami, and black shorts. Oh, and the boots. I just put those on without even thinking, so part of my challenge will be working in those other 2 pairs of shoes.

I don't know if yellow is like, supposed to be reserved for spring and summer only. But.. oh well. I just love this cardigan so much. I can't not wear it.

I also did not have much accessory planning time, so this necklace was it. I really like the look of it, I just wish it photographed better. It's really just a bunch of random charms.. a swallow, a key, a couple heart shaped pieces, a couple of black (plastic) stones, and a locket. Which does not have a picture inside, in case you were wondering.

Random note: I really love Man V. Food. I don't know why, but this show is so addicting.

I live off of tips, so paying bills on that kind of salary is always a scary and unsure thing, so I've been on a self-imposed shopping hiatus anyway. Another 30 days without it shouldn't be so hard. :)

Black, White and Red (All Over).

Like my super clever title? Yeah, I thought that up all on my own. Kind of like this outfit. A lot of thought was put into it. (not really.. at all)

haha. At least I'm honest. I've been wanting to wear this top for quite some time, but I just couldn't get it to look right with anything, so I gave up and threw on leggings. I am hoping that the opposite polka dots underneath create some type of interest. And of course, when all else fails.. throw on some red lipstick. :)

It is starting to feel like fall here, finally. In case you were wondering. We had about a day and a half of miserably gross, cold, rainy weather.. and now it's been pretty sunny and only in the 60s. So it's nice to finally feel on track with the year. I wasn't freezing during these pictures, but if you're going to be outside for any long amount of time, you would need at least a light jacket. Although, I think it's gonna be back in the 70s this weekend. haha. Oh, Texas.
Oh.. and be ready to see these boots.. A LOT. I can't help it. They're comfy, and they go with pretty much everything that I've been wearing. Which is weird, because until this year I've always shied away from black, but now I can't get enough of it. I don't understand.

It still doesn't feel like fall here. Texas is crazy. It was like, 80 degrees yesterday. Halloween! yeah. I don't get it, either. And then about 75 all day today. The only reason I'm even wearing tights is because I know once the sun goes down it'll be a bit too chilly for bare legs. But you still definitely don't need a coat!

I got both this dress and the shirt in one of those, shove clothes in a bag and we'll sell it to you for really cheap, sales. It was 4 bucks a bag. I figured each piece of clothing probably cost me about 40 cents. Awesome. :) This is just a simple little spaghetti strap dress, but I really loved the patchwork pattern and amazing fall colors. I don't really have a lot to say on this one. It's just a cute, simple look. And I'm pretty excited about it. I did decide to go through with the 30 for 30 challenge, so you'll be seeing the things I've picked out this weekend. I'm kind of nervous. But I think it'll be okay. I'm still having a lot of what-ifs about the things I have tentatively decided on.. it might change a couple of times before the weekend arrives. haha. Oh well.

Halloween and Updates!

October was a ridiculously busy month for me. I have this good friend named Doug, and he decided to make a mission to see 31 bands in 31 days. And I was his sidekick to go to all the shows with. It was a lot of fun, but very exhausting physically, and monetarily. hahah. But it was such a good experience, and you would think that if I was a good blogger that I would've been updating this whole time and taking photos of all the outfits I wore to the shows and everything. But I decided to be lazy, and take a break, and just enjoy my time for awhile. I would like to give a quick rundown and make some honorable mentions for some of my favorite bands, though.

Spooky Folk- Exactly like the name says. They have this wonderfully spooky sound to them that just draws you in. And an amazing lady with a violin which sounds so beautiful and gives their band a really rich sound.

Ernie Halter- Singer Songwriter with a gorgeous voice, a very soul-filled, folk-y sound. Yes I made up my own words to describe him. hah. He put on a really good show, and had some local kids come up on stage to jam out with him during some songs. Very cool.

Peelander Z!- Absolutely AMAZING. We had no idea what to expect (with any of the shows, really), but reading their bio it was saying stuff about how they claim to be from the Z area of planet Peelander, and they are made up of different colors, and they do human bowling, limbo, dress up in costumes... it goes on and on. And they really do all those things! It was one of the best, and most fun experiences of this whole month. In fact, they'll be here again on the 5th, and we plan on going back to see them! They describe their band as being a Japanese Comic Punk Band. As Douglas put it.. "Imagine you're stuck in a crazy Japanese game show, and you're having the best time of your life." Yeah, that's pretty much it. haha. GO SEE THIS BAND.

The Appeal- A really good local band. They have a funk indie, pop sound to them. And they have a lot of fun on stage. Plus they were ridiculously nice and hung out with us for quite awhile after the show. I always like when bands are actually interested in the people who are there to see them.

The Forgeries- I have to do a special mention of this band. They are really good friends to me and Doug. Their girlfriends are all really good friends to me, and their whole group of friends have been amazing to be around. They are RIDICULOUSLY good live. The Forgeries have just a really good rock sound to them. With kind of a pop vibe. You want to dance, you want to sing, you want to clap your hands and just have a great time when you see them. They'll be going into the studio soon, and the rock opera will be released on Valentine's Day. You bet I'll be doing a special post dedicated to them when that happens. :)

Jacob didn't dress up because he came straight from work, but I was thinking of Hocus Pocus when she tells the bullies that Max's costume is a "Little Leaguer". And Jacob plays baseball, so it could work.

This was literally their costume. I didn't know until the end of the night that her baby bump was fake. lol

The Forgeries!!!! The party was at their house, and a band called Peru played first (Which was Doug's 31st band for the month.yay!) and then the Forgeries played, and it was awesome.

That purple people eater to the left is Leslie. She is great. and is dating Mr. Satan there behind the mike. :) They are a beautiful couple, and have been really awesome friends.

And this is me with Mary!! I love her. and if you couldn't tell by her bar maiden outfit, she is dating the bass player in the lederhosen up there. :]

Anyway, it was a great night. Lots of fun costumes, lots of good people. I hope you all had a great Halloween!

Lazy, Hazy, Last Days of Summer.

These pictures are less about what I'm actually wearing, and more about experimentation. Every post I've made so far has had pictures taken in either my backyard, or the ex's. I would really like to branch out a little bit and start finding some new scenery. So, a few days ago I finally decided to get some exercise, and jog down this walking trail that runs right by my house. On my little trip I found this awesome dock, 2 years and I never knew this place existed. haha. So I decided to put on something pretty normal looking since this would be my first time taking outfit photos with other people walking past me and stuff. Baby steps. haha.

This was October 1st, technically. And yes, it was still 80 degrees out. I love Texas. lol. It has cooled down some since then, but it's still getting pretty warm during the day, and then dropping down enough in the evenings to put on some tights and a cardigan! and I'm super excited about that. My teeth were actually chattering last night. Although I was told it wasn't really that cold. haha. I have thin skin, I guess. :)

One of the best things, I think, is the view of this water park. I thought it fit the whole "end of summer" theme very nicely.

Nothing in this outfit is especially unique, but I did want to take a second to tell you about my necklace. I went to this thing in Grapevine, TX called Grapefest. It was really cool. They have lots of wine and beer, and good food, music, and lots of artists had tents and booths set up, and we even walked through a little art gallery where all the artists were hanging out and talking to us about their work. It was completely amazing. Being the bad blogger that I am, I have no pictures. haha. But I did get this necklace. It was from a company called Tiles Across Texas. They had beautiful mosaics, and all sorts of stuff. So when I saw this and saw that it was only 12 bucks, I had to get it. haha.
Not only have I been to Grapefest... but I think I've been doing way more things now than I ever have. Life has been wonderfully busy. My friend Doug is actually in the process of seeing 31 bands during the month of October. So I've been busy helping him with that. So far we're at 6, by the 5th of the month. Not too bad, I'd say.
Last night was definitely my favorite show. The bands were Drew Andrews, and then Spooky Folk. Two bands I will definitely recommend to EVERYONE. I have a couple of videos from last night..Blogger won't let me upload them apparently. Oh well. I'm sure they have myspaces. actually.. I know Spooky Folk's is myspace.com/kaleok

I want to start out by saying I feel very "Saved by the Bell" in this outfit. And that is why I LOVE it. haha. As a matter of fact, that may be one of my favorite dresses now. :]

I loved the tiered fabric, the sweet little floral print, and the fact that the background of it is black. It's a fun little summer dress, but it can easily be paired with some tights for fall. I can't wait.

It was fun to pair the chambray shirt, and keep things casual. Like I always do. haha. But tying it up like that keeps it fun. And 90s. What could be better?

Okay, a lot of you are already showing off some fall styles. But I live in Texas, people. It's still summer here. haha. So I will take advantage of that until we finally get some temps below 80. Who knows when that will even be.

The orange top is my mom's, so it's a bit too big. And that's why I like it so much. :) I've worn it with numerous outfits, so I thought it was finally time to get some photos. Also, I think I've definitely got my money's worth out of both this chambray skirt and the striped tank. Two awesome purchases.

And yes, I will one day figure out how to get good detail shots. Until then, try to squint your eyes just a little bit, and maybe it will look more in focus. :D

I really have sooo much to talk about! haha. So enjoy that first teaser photo, because I'm gonna chat about things other than my clothes for a minute. :]
Last Wed night through Friday night I was in Oklahoma! If you've never read my first post, then I'll let you know.. I lived in Oklahoma for most of my life.. up until almost 2 years ago, when I moved here to Texas to stay with my mom and grandma for awhile. So anyway, all of my friends that I've grown up with pretty much live in Oklahoma. I had a couple of days off last week, and enough money to fill up my gas tank, so I headed north. I stayed with Amanda Emiley, my best friend, and her boyfriend. I got to see so many old friends! And it felt really good to be "home" again. You know? I have so many stories from my trip, but they probably wouldn't make sense to any of you. haha. I'll just say that I had an amazing time, and it was definitely needed. Relieved tons of stress! lol.

Okay, anyway.. I just had to get that all out, I've been so happy since my trip, and I can't wait to go back again!

So, this is my version of sweet and.. tough? haha. I guess. Mostly black with a light, sheer layer of soft pink. I honestly love it. I got the pink top in one of those $1 bag of clothes sales. Most awesome thing ever. It's vintage of some sort, but I'm not an expert. So who knows. I just know that it has pretty lace, pearl buttons, it's sheer, it's flowy, and I love it!
This was due to the fact that I hit the tripod after setting the self timer, and I didn't realize that it had turned the camera until I turned around to pose, so just to be silly I decided to jump in front of the camera real fast so that it wouldn't be a completely wasted picture. lol. I kinda like how it turned out. :]

Let me just say this.. the leaves may be turning brown and falling of the trees, but it is STILL hot as blazes here! I was seriously sweating during all this. The things I do. haha. Also, those shoes are completely ridiculous, and I nearly twisted my ankle quite a few times. I'm not a normal girl who is used to walking around in heels. I've said it before and I'll say it again. But it's not going to stop me from at least trying! :]

Also, that necklace and the bracelet were bought at a shop in Oklahoma that is literally called $1 Jewelry. Yes. Everything. One dollar. well, rings are 1.99, and they have purses that are 10-20. But yeah. It's pretty much mind blowing. Not gonna lie.

I realized after putting these onto my computer that they probably would have turned out a bit better had I used the flash. However, to those of you who are living with weather in the 70s. I envy you. It's still in triple digits here, and it rained for about 10 minutes earlier.. so it's RIDICULOUSLY humid. Like, after about 5 seconds of being outside, you're already sweating. So, I didn't want the flash to make my sweaty face look all shiny. haha. So, blown out photos. I apologize. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Right?

I've had these pants for awhile, and I really love them.. I was just kind of stumped by them. I didn't want them looking like pajama pants. I don't think they are? Well, if they are.. they're very stylish linen pajama pants. And I still love them. And they and the rose print tank both cost me about 10 cents. Who can argue with that awesomeness?

Don't mind the chipped nail polish, but I still wish I had gotten a little bit of a closer picture. This ring is absolutely adorable. It was on sale for about a dollar fifty at Forever 21. I had to. Heart shaped key? Yes, please.
Okay.. I know my last post I had said I would have more time for blogging now, and then I disappeared for awhile again. And I need to be honest about this, I think. Jonathan and I broke up. :( It's been really hard on me, so I've been in mourning, and not really motivated. BUT it is definitely for the best. So don't feel bad for me, congratulate me on my new life. I have been hanging out and making new friends and just trying to keep on keepin on, and living.
Which brings me to this question..
Since I have been hanging around new people, I haven't been super comfortable being "dressed up" as they would most likely look at it.. and have been wearing a lot of jeans lately. With Jonathan, he was already used to how crazy or weird, or fancy or whatever, I would look like day to day, although there were plenty of disagreements. He pretty much knew what to expect. But these people have never seen me outside of my work uniform, and I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable if they think I've overdressed for an occasion, even if that's what I just wear normally. Have any of you ever had a similar experience, and how did you deal with it?
I'm just trying to transition them into some of my more "out there" outfits

Sweet Surprise

I pretty much am in love with this skirt. I have never worn a pencil skirt. I've always been a little wary because I guess you could say I have a bit of a pear shape. My bottom half is definitely wider than the top, and I never wanted to accentuate that. However, I really like the way this skirt looks on me. And it's denim. And I got it for about ten cents. What more could you ask for?

It's so hot out, I can't even bear to put on jewelry. You can tell by my shiny face how humid it is. Also I set up my tripod right next to the neighbor's AC unit which blows out hot air. So when I run back to check the photo and reset the self timer, I have super hot air blowing right on me, making it even worse. haha. Why don't I just move to a different spot? I don't know. I never thought about it until right now. I just prefer this spot. I like that one of the pieces of diagonal wood is missing, I think it creates character. :)

Summer Sun.

I want to warn you. This is a pretty photo-heavy post today. Jonathan finally was able to get a DSLR! :] I'm very happy and excited for him (and for me, too! haha). So today was our first shot at it. A few are still blurry.. he's still figuring everything out. But I think they came out really well! So thank you very much Jonathan for taking these for me today with your fancy new camera. :D

I'm going to try to break some of this up with text. Although I'm still not sure if I really want to, or not. haha. I'm seriously an indecisive person. It drives everyone crazy! Sorry! I wanted to interject about this outfit a little bit, though. Not my crazy. So I figured I should tell you something amazing. Both the rose print top and the khaki shorts cost me about $0.10 each! Really! This amazing thrift store I've mentioned a couple of times before has these "Put as much as you can into a bag and we'll sell it to you for a dollar" sales. And they're freakin amazing! Last time I got about 20 items of clothing for $2.17. And it's good stuff! Blazer, vintage tops, jean jacket, jean skirt, tank tops, t-shirts, slacks, linen pants. Oh my gosh! I have soo many goodies to show off! hahah.

The only bad thing about the photos is that all of the full length shots were a bit blurry. But that's okay. :) I also feel like there should be an obligatory comment about the weather. So here it is.. IT'S FREAKIN HOT! haha. Every single day of August has been over one hundred degrees. With heat indexes at like, 110. Texas is ridiculous, y'all.

Summer Basics

I think I've worn probably about 20 different variations of this outfit. Just keeping the skirt and the white tank the two staples. And this is the first time I've finally gotten around to photographing it. This has definitely been my go-to combo for the summer. It's easy, cute, breezy and not too over-done. I really freakin' love it. I know everyone has their own favorite go-to outfit. Probably at least one for every season you experience, right?

I really love the way these photos came out, thank you Jonathan! He spent a long time outside with me to get these captured. And I really appreciate it. We also had a lot of fun! This next photo is me having to turn away because I'm laughing so hard at his "photographer directions". haha. "okay, now you're waving! You just saw someone walk in and you wave to her! Okay, walk like an egyptian! Oh, now you're crying! You're crying! Keep your eyes open! Stand up straight!"

Ah, this was a relaxing day off. I'm actually editing these photos and putting together this blog post while I drink a nice, refreshing glass of Riuniti Lambrusco. Now, I am definitely no wine expert. Although I wish I were. Which is why I decided to try this. I've only had white zins, and a riesling before. And I figured the Lambrusco would be a good intro to a red. I hope to get more into it, and learn about all the different kinds and really find my own wine niche, if you will. Maybe that would be a good idea for future bloggy stuff. :]

What are they doing there? Where did they come from? How many items of clothing is it?

A: I was so happy after acquiring all these clothes that I poured them out onto the bed to show Jonathan, and maybe roll around in them just a little bit, like it was a big pile of money. (okay not really that last part)
B; They came from this great little resale shop that Jonathan's mom volunteers at. She told me they were having a sale where everything you can fit into a bag for ONE DOLLAR. Yes. A buck for a bag of clothing.
C; Well, I got two bags. haha. There's another layer underneath the top one and you don't see all the way to the edge of the pile because I couldn't get it all in there.

I have some fall-y things that I can't wait to wear, and of course some warm weather items also. This is Texas. Fall weather doesn't start for another few months still. :(
But yeah. I was really excited and wanted to share with you. :]

Thrift Genius!

Oh, hey. This is easy summer wear. White tee, full skirt (really an empire waisted dress), cute and comfy heels. Oh, and completely unstyled hair. 100 percent unheat-treated, or anything. Okay, so a little bit of Frizz Ease, but come on! It didn't even really work. haha. Freakin humidity is a killer, guys. Er, ladies? At work is is forbidden to call a table of people, "guys". Women, apparently, are very offended by the use of that term. I had never really thought about it before. Being my age that's just how you're used to referring to people. But I don't really want to be called a guy either. So I guess they kind of have a point.

Oh, you wanted to know about my clothes, huh? haha. Uhm, I thrifted the dress and the shoes. Both VERY exciting finds. I loved the print and colors of the dress, but I don't do so well with empire waists, or babydoll dresses or whatever. So I had the brilliant idea to just cover that part up. With the most basic shirt I could find. haha. Whatever. I like it.

And the shoes? I am never able to find COOL shoes that actually fit me in thrift stores. My feet are too damn big. All the good shoes seem to be anywhere from a 5 to a 7. Like if your feet are any bigger than that, they can't pull off a cute shoe. Sheesh. I've worn size 9 since I can remember. I'm also pretty sure I've been 5'9" since 7th grade. haha. Talk about an awkward girl. Which is part of why I barely wear heels, anyway. I feel like I'm too tall. But I'm slowly getting more comfortable in them. I'm just not used to walking in them, so it's been an experience. hahah.

This top makes me feel really girly. :] Is it the pink, the babydoll cut, or the flowers? I can't decide. I did decide that the middle part of the flowers is the perfect maroon to match the tee underneath. And I did decide that finding the t-shirt at a thrift store, and the flowery top at Plato's Closet for $3 makes for a wonderful, and cheap outfit. Which will most likely become a go-to for the still sweltering time ahead. It was cute, and great for a lazy day off. Oh, plus the shoes are my mom's. A.K.A.- Free. :D

No, the bike is not mine. It's also my mother's. Neat, huh? Also, I don't know why but wearing tunic tops with short shorts has been my favorite thing to do this summer. I remember high school where the most I would show of my leg would be my calves under some capris. I still wore jeans 95 percent of the time, all summer long. Oh, and black t-shirts. Yes, I was one of those. lol!

I can't walk in heels to save my life. And these wedges have nearly killed me a couple of times. But I just love them sooo much! I can't let go. Also, they're really bad on my feet, and the balls of my feet already hurt just from walking in normal, flat shoes. Sheesh. Also, again, I just realized after going through these pictures, that my toenail polish matched my purse! hahah. Which brings me to my next point...

My awesome purse! I don't know how many of you are into Vera Bradley, but I freakin love her stuff, thanks to the influence from my best friend, Emiley. :] I had never seen a solid color one before. And this was found in a thrift store, marked ten bucks, and everything in the store was 75 percent off!!!! Can you believe that? I almost had a heart attack. I also found an Oscar de la Renta scarf. Come ON people. Man, I'm just revealing all my secrets today. haha. The real secret is in the shades, though. I love when I get compliments on them, because nobody knows where they came from. And I have the urge to tell you. Right here, right now. Okay.. I found them inside Dollar General. They were $3.50, including tax. They have lasted me forever. And go with everything, and I'm in love.

First Time For Everything?

So, I don't have any outfit photos to show at the moment.
But I've had something on my mind a lot, lately. And it's almost to the point of driving me crazy.
Yes, friends, I have been lusting. Over something that continues to elude me. I have never owned a pair, and so I'm still not quite sure how to style them. I really really would like to find some to buy. But it had been a long and strenuous process. And I have yet to achieve holding them lovingly in my hands. I'm talking about brogues, oxfords, whatever the proper term is. I still don't even really know. I just know I want some.

My searches have been fruitless so far. So to satisfy me for the moment I decided to try my hand at creating my first Polyvore set, focused around a pair of STEVEN by Steve Madden Women's Melin Oxford. This is what I would be able to wear in my perfect dream life, anyway. haha. I would prefer vintage, but if I can't find some soon, I'm just going to buy new. It's seriously a problem. haha.

Because they are a menswear type look, I decided to make everything else soft, flowy and girly. I like the neutral colors and definitely the jewelry. Also, if you wanted to wear this into the cooler months, I threw in some interest with the loud blazer, and then some cable knit tights, or OTK socks to keep your legs warm. I don't know, I feel like I would really enjoy wearing something like this during the day. What do you think? Would you have gone down a different path the shoes?

Don't worry, these aren't the sad "blues". Opposite, in fact. Or, well, kind of the awkward blues in these photos since I've fallen out of the loop and am feeling a little bit uncomfortable in front of the camera again. So I apologize in advance. haha. Ahh. Summer. So carefree. That's part of why I've been absent. I'm lazy in hot weather. Lazy? I meant.. carefree. HAH! Plus I've been uninspired, bored, whatever. But I went to this local thrift store with Jonathan's mom. She volunteers there and told me about a huge sale they were having. Everything was 75 percent off, and clothes were $2 for however much you could shove in a bag. I got 2 bags. And quite a few things for 75 percent less than they were marked. That one little shopping trip ignited my flame, and here I am. She said they're restocking everything tomorrow. So it won't be on ridiculous sale, but everything will be fresh and there will be plenty to pick through, so I might have to make another trip. And then another when I can get 2 dollar clothes-bags. Most exciting day ever. Oh, that's how I acquired these pants, btw. I got some really exciting things that I cannot wait to show you!

On Motivation and the Art of Productivity.

Hey there.
I just wanted to let you all know that I am not dead.
I have just been hiding in a dark corner for a few weeks. I've been feeling.. shy? Unproductive, unmotivated, the opposite of creative. In a slump, I guess you could say. This early? Yes. I am not trying to be the biggest, best, brightest out there. But I got bogged down in what I felt were my own shortcomings. I don't spend a lot of time shopping, I love to shop, but I'm probably the most frugal person you would ever know. I don't feel like I have a lot of money to go toward clothing, even if they are thrifted or whatever. So I have been repeating outfits, and sliding back into the comfortable jean and t-shirt territory. Terrible, I know.

Plus, I have also been going through one of those "not enough hours in the day" spells. But when I look back at the past few weeks, I have spent my free time doing nothing productive, and just making excuses as to why I couldn't put on something worthwhile and snap a few quick shots. I have been lazy, mostly. So I apologize.

I realize there are only a few of you subscribed to this blog, and to those few I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. But I am not doing this for anyone except myself. And I realized that keeping up with this blog is something that has kept me occupied and happy and without it I have been miserable and bored. So, I went to this thrift store where Jonathan's mom volunteers at. They were having a massive sale, and let's just say I have a huge black trash bag sitting next to me with articles of clothing and accessories like you wouldn't believe.

My drive and excitement is back, and I can't wait to get involved again!

What a Way to Spend the Day...

Part 1!
Thursdays Jonathan and I have off together. We mostly spend it lazing about all day and maybe going shopping or something like that. Today Jonathan randomly decided we should go to the Ft. Worth Botanic Gardens. And I almost peed myself in excitement. haha. I've lived here aaalmost two years now, and have yet to really experience anything. I've been so busy just working and whatever. Which brings me to my point about why I named this part 1. We already have plans for next Thursday, too! So I was thinking maybe Thursdays could be mini-vacation days where we explore some cool place in Texas. :] I know I'm up for it.. Just gotta see about talking Jonathan into it. hahah.

So anyway, here is the outfit. You knew it was coming. hah. Pretty simple for a day in nature. hah. I don't know why.. maybe because I wore nothing but black all throughout high school, but for the past few years I have refused black in every way I could. Choosing white, grey or brown as my neutrals of choice. But randomly this summer (when you're not even supposed to wear black..) I decided that I really like black and wants lots and lots of it! How backwards is that?? haha. So I picked up this top and these black sandals from Forever 21 when Jonathan took me birthday shopping, and these shoes have almost never left my feet since.

Don't get me wrong, I still love white, grey and brown colored things, but for some reason I just have this black craving. It's so weird. hahah. Anyway.. on to the day!

A couple more outfit shots for ya. We went on the nature trail when first arriving. It was very serene and beautiful. Luckily we spent most of our day in the shade, considering the temperature was like, 97 degrees. I definitely got sweaty, but it was never overwhelming, thankfully.
This is Jonathan. Conquering nature? haha. I don't know. He has the silliest poses for his pictures. :] The best part of the day was definitely the Japanese Gardens. So so so so wonderful. There's toons of water filled with Koi fish. Bigger than I had imagined! And boy, are they hungry. There are quarter machines set up with fish food that you can buy. We plopped down by the water and got to feeding. My absolute favorite part of the day.
We caused a feeding frenzy! Even the ducks came to get their share. Right out of Jonathan's hand!
This guy knew the drill, too. He was right up in my face! haha. They definitely aren't scared of people. They want that food! They would jump around and splash water up onto me. It was pretty awesome.
A perfectly Zen rock garden. :] And of course we took some time out for meditating...

Isn't it all just so beautiful? I love things like this. And except for paying to go through the Japanese Garden part, the rest was free. So we're being thrifty, and having a great time, too! Thank you again Jonathan for the beautiful day together. :) I can't wait for next week to come now! Ahh! haha.

Even though I've worn this top a few times before, I bought it with this specific skirt in mind. And in case you don't remember, this skirt is the one I had asked about shortening in this post, here. I got a great suggestion about using safety pins and kind of bubble-hemming it, but it's not permanent because I really did love wearing it longer, too. But now that it's so hot out, the shorter hem length is mandatory. And I must say, this is definitely a favorite of mine. I was in a funk for awhile, but i feel like I'm slowly pulling myself out of it. With my clothes, anyway. hah.

This is another appearance from my favorite bangles. Which Emiley, my best friend, noticed and brought up, and thought it was really weird that I was wearing bangles. haha. Her and I hadn't seen each other for almost two years and last Friday we finally were able to get together and eat some dinner and catch up a little bit. It was surreal, and the best night I've had in a really long time. I miss her every single day. Living so far apart is really hard on both of us, especially because prior to my moving we spent almost every minute of every day together. We lived together, worked together, had the same friends, and all the same interests. So yeah, this has definitely been a big adjustment. But I'm just so thankful to have been able to at least eat dinner with her after so long. And.. yeah. This is what I wore! haha. Don't ever let anyone tell you that a friendship is not important. Seriously.

Here's just a little something I threw on for my day off. It's been over 95 degrees every single day since the end of may. Shorts and skirts have been a necessity. And I just really love the pattern on this top! So I thought I'd go ahead and grab a couple of photos. :]

This is almost one of those optical illusion outfits where you're not sure if there are shorts under there or not. But I think that would definitely be a bit too scandalous. haha. Comfort and staying cool were my only two thoughts at this point.

I have to say, I'm pretty sure this is one of my favorite outfits so far this summer. I know it just started, but I've worn this twice already. haha. I even got a compliment from Jonathan on it, and I was pretty surprised. I didn't think this would be something he would like. So it's a double wammy of favoritism. Gotta love that! :] I will admit that the first time I wore it was a much simpler version, i didn't own the hat or necklaces yet. But I bought them all with this exact thing in mind. And I'm sooo happy with the way it turned out!
It's a fairly preppy look, so I feel like the lace and accessories make it a little less traditional. The chain necklace I had been spying at WalMart every time I went, but I didn't want to pay the measly six dollars for it. I'm so cheap! lol. But this last time I went, it was on sale for three bucks!! I definitely couldn't pass it up then. Then the feather necklace came from a birthday shopping trip Jonathan took me on yesterday. I spent some money in Forever 21 on some other things you'll be seeing pretty soon also. :] Oh, that's where I also got the hat. I love birthdays! (Mine isn't until the 11th, but he'll be out of town so we're celebrating early.) Next is sushi!! And then when he comes home we'll finally be going to Movie Tavern. I've never been and I'm so excited! hahah.
P.S.- I got to see my best friend tonight!!! Emiley, I'm so so so glad we got to have an in-person conversation for the first time in almost 2 years. This outfit isn't from tonight, but I'm too excited to not tell everyone until I get to that outfit. haha. Ah, it was so nice. I wish we could hang out all the time again. I miss her so much. :( blahh. anyway. No being sad! I'm just happy we had this opportunity tonight.

I'm switching up my Monday routine, I think. I did an all music post once before, and I just really really love music, and I think incorporating it into my blog more will bring me a special dose of happiness, especially on Mondays, when happiness is hard to find. hah.

So, I'm thinking that each Monday I will post about new bands I've heard about or news from old bands we already love. (Or that I love, and hopefully you do too.) So without further adieu:

I will let you in on this little secret right off the bat, I get most of my music news from Absolutepunk.net these days. So, it is no surprise that it is that very website that brought me to the genius that is Jeremy Messersmith. That name is a mouthful, but I plan to be saying it a lot and singing his praises. He hails from Minneapolis, MN and makes music that I cannot stop listening to. If I had a soundtrack, it would be his newest album; The Reluctant Graveyard. Although I hate to make comparisons between artists, because I'm sure the artists themselves don't always appreciate it, on AbsolutePunk there is a mention of a Sufjan Stevens comparison, and I have to agree. So definitely, if you like Sufjan, you need to check this guy out!
I love to dance! And We Became Actors has some fun indie/pop music that I can definitely wiggle around like a crazy person to. This band is another new find for me this week, and I'm so excited! They have some great synth sounds, hands clapping, and groovy beats. This band also is from Minneapolis (Lucky city!), and their new album This Is Where We Stand will definitely be on rotation when I'm drivin around with the windows down.
Next is A Rocket to the Moon, which is a band you might have heard of. They're on Fueled by Ramen with some other greats, and they're super amazing! Although as far as I know they only have an EP, and now their first full length- On Your Side. I just gave a few songs a listen today, and I have to say, I'm pretty impressed. The song "Like We Used To" made me nearly cry because it's just so emotive. And oh dear do I love emotional music. haha. Not only do they have a great sound, but they're going on tour this fall with HANSON! And in case you don't pay attention to me, that is my favorite band. My tattoo is even a reference to them. Which brings me to my next bulletin:
HANSON!!! haha. In case you are a person who thinks they broke up after Mmmbop stopped being played on the radio, you are wrong. They have grown up, and brought their musical talent with them. Shout it Out is their 5th studio album, and oh my goodness, it's amazing. Fun, catchy, dancey ( I don't care if that's not a word. hah), and full of talent. Not only do I respect Hanson's music, I respect them as people. To me they represent what life should be about. They're living their dreams, having fun, but they are married, with children. And they use their name and spare time to give back. Their previous album, The Walk, was dedicated to helping AIDS victims in Africa, and they continue to do and give lots to the people who have been affected. So far their fall tour doesn't have any dates here in Texas, but I'm praying they add some in!

I'm going to leave you with their first video from Shout it Out for the song "Thinking 'Bout Somethin'". I promise it will bring a smile to your face. I dare you to NOT want to learn this dance. :]

Kind of a simple look today. But did you notice? No tights! Ahh! Bare legs. I'm not used to it yet. But summer is definitely upon us in North Texas. These pictures were taken at 8 at night, and I was on the edge of breaking a sweat! I love it. haha. It's better than burning up during the day, then freezing once the sun starts to go down. I had no idea how to dress myself. It was torture. Now I at least know that it's going to be hot, and stay that way all day long.

I was kind of digging my monochromatic look, with the metallic to break it up. This top was thrifted, and I really like it. Especially the cute little surprise it has hidden! You'll see. Also, I found these bangles at the same thrift store as the top, and I L.O.V.E. them. They add just, something special, to any outfit I pair them with. So perfect!

So, these pictures are from yesterday, and then today has been my day of pampering. I got my eyebrows waxed, my hair trimmed, and I bought a yoga mat and DVD. I know I'm a bit behind on that trend, but I had been doing just some generic stretching in the mornings and I really feel like I need direction. Plus, I've read and heard of a lot of great benefits of Yoga. Things I really need like energy (I'm cutting out caffeine), focus, and to help my body feel generally better. I eat too much fast food and don't do any physical activity except at work.
Do any of you do yoga, pilates, or anything similar? What have you found about your results, and how are you liking it?

Sunday Special: Two for One

Backstory- It was ridiculously hot this weekend! I picked up this romper for 5 measly dollars sometime last week, I just couldn't pass it up! So, with the hot weather I figured it would be perfect. I did decide to still wear some tights, they're light and lacy though, so they were still great to wear. Plus I felt the need for them because the shorts on this romper are so darn short! That's what I get for being Amazon woman, I guess. I also got them on sale from UO a loong time ago and have been waiting for the moment to debut them.

So anyway, I threw this on and styled it up a bit for some photos, but decided I'd feel more comfortable in real public with a skirt and some flats, so when I changed I had a great idea to also document it, and voila, Two for One Sunday has been born. I'm thinking this might be something I do just like once a month for now where I show how I styled up one piece two different ways. Really all I did was put on the skirt and change my shoes, but I think it gives it a completely different feel, that I honestly liked more. What do you think?

A couple of quick notes about the photos, I had read that uploading them through photobucket instead of blogger makes them look better, but I'm not sure, and plus now they're all different sizes and I don't really like that look. How do you upload your pictures, and what works best for you?

Plus, I'm using my boyfriend's mac and I feel like the picture on this screen is a little distorted, so if my pictures do look funny it could be because I edited them on here. It'll have to do for now while my laptop is still sick. :(

Anyway. Happy Thursday! It was my day off, and was somewhat productive, although I did lay in bed and watch Gossip Girl and P.S. I Love You for awhile. But hey, when the laundry is in the washer, what else is there to do while you wait? :]

This outfit was technically from last week sometime, my days have been blended together and spit back out into a messy heap that I can't make sense of, sorry. I will get back on the ball sometime in the near future. I can feel it. Until then, this will have to do. And for being so out of my mind, I don't think this outfit is half bad. It's the most comfortable things I own all wrapped into one. Plus the Breton stripes! Which are apparently huge right now. I liked having them just peak out a little bit, and liven everything up with the purple circle scarf. Purple and green are my two favorite colors to wear, in case you were wondering. hah.
P.S. I love these bangles! I don't ever want to take them off, but I have to keep telling myself that they will get very boring very quickly if I don't space out their wear a little bit.

Guess Who's Back, Back Again!

I've been having some technical difficulty lately. In my life, and literally as in my laptop crapped out on me. Apparently my specific model of HP laptop has an issue with the NVIDIA graphics card and after so long it glitches out and there's no fixing it beyond getting a new hard drive, i.e. expensive. Or sending it to a company that can mod it and fix it for you, also a tad bit expensive, but once I have the money saved up for it I will definitely be choosing that option. So for now I have taken advantage of my boyfriend's wonderful generosity and I'm using his cute little iBook for the moment. Thanks babe!

Due to the technical difficulties in life, outfit photos have been the last thing on my mind, but a few days last week I did take a few pictures, and finally got around to putting them all together, editing and planning and what not today, so I'll have a few posts ready to go for you all for a few days this week at least. yay! I can't even describe how much I've been missing this place. ughh.

I can't believe it's Monday again, already.
And that it's been over a week since I've been here. All I have to say is that I've been in the weeds. In case you've never worked in an industry that uses that terminology, it basically means I've been too busy, stressed, etc. to even see straight.
For this Megan Loves edition, I have only one thing to say.

I love my family with all of my heart, and as I grow and continue to learn more about them, and myself and my upbringing and everything else that goes along with it, I am astonished, taken aback, and realizing of how truly and utterly lucky I have been.

So, as you can tell I have had a kind of crazy week. But I promise things will go back to normal again. As part of my stressed out blahness due to certain events and what not, I've had a terrible time putting together any kind of outfit that doesn't include jeans, and a band t-shirt. And what attempts I have made just haven't come across very well in any photos. I'm slowly getting back into my groove, though. Thank you to all of my new followers! You have no idea how big I smiled when I came back to see the new additions. I can't tell you how much it means to me.

Have you seen Kyla from Blue Collar Catwalk? She's one of my original inspirations behind starting this blog, and I've been loving her spring wardrobe. She keeps it casual, but still looks totally put together and when I found these pants of my mom's I instantly thought of her! I even went all the way with my gladiator sandals. :]

I must admit, however, that Kyla does don some pants that I don't think I could pull off, so these are a little more of a tame version, but I really loved wearing this. It was perfect for the warm weather (In the 80s!!) and oh so comfortable.
I found this shirt yesterday at Walmart for 5 bucks, dude. I just love deals like that. And I can guarantee it will be worked into many outfits to come. So be ready! haha.

P.S. I really need to trim my fringe. I might do that right.now.

Idea behind this outfit? Okay. If you read my first post you would know that I was super emo/punk in high school. I wore jeans, tennis shoes (chucks or some sort of skater shoe) and lots of black! I like to think I've come a looong way since then. A long, long, long way. hah. Skirts were never a part of my closet. So this is my updated high school me. A motocross shirt, plaid, and chucks mixed with tights and a skirt perfectly combines who I was then with who I am now. And I love it. :]

I'll figure out that whole lighting thing one of these days. Probably when I get a better camera. Anyone care to contribute to that dream? hah.

I just realized I kind of blend into my background. haha. Maybe my title should have had something to do with a chameleon, instead of being a lyric from my favorite song of the moment (May I Bum a Smoke by Socratic). Or it could have been.. Karma Karma Karma Chameleon. Then, it would have still been a song lyric, and karma makes me think of Hippies, which tie-dye also makes me think of. But I tried to steer clear of the hippie look today, although I do love it. Maybe I'll go more literal next time. Who knows.

So, here is my first debut of some of my new jewelry. The necklace I love, because it's a bunch of charms all smushed together, and they happen to be some of my favorite things; sparrows, hearts, lockets, etc. Then the gold bangles are part of a set that has pastel colored ones also, but I picked out just the gold ones to wear today.

I also just realized that other than my belt, and sunglasses, everything I'm wearing today is actually new to my blog! Hurrah! The sweet little flat espadrilles I got on sale from Kohl's for 3 bucks. When I got them home, I put them on for about five minutes, then my feet started killing me, and I realized why they must have been that cheap. But I've been breaking them in, and finally have begun to wear them outside of the house without foot cramps. Great success!

Also, random note: I absolutely cannot wait until I have a better camera, and I'm sure you can't either. hah. Also, also: I should probably find a shadier spot to take pictures at 3 in the afternoon. Sorry it's so bright! I did try to fix them a little, though.

I'm glad I chose Mondays to do a Megan Loves post. I'm exhausted from working all weekend, we're pretty much dead on Mondays, so they drag on for ever.. and my day off isn't until Thursday.
Not that I'm complaining, or anything. Pshh. Who does that? I'm simply stating that it's a good day to point out the things I really love. It's a great morale boost. :]

Megan Loves... (April 19-25)

Internet Shopping! Okay, so I really hardly ever buy things for myself, leaving my closet seriously limited. Which is one of the reasons why I decided to start this blog, to force myself out of the norm of jeans, t-shirt, shoes, every single day. But on the down side, now that I see all of the possibilities out there, it's really really making me want to shop! haha. So I splurged a little online at Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters. I got some great jewelry, and a few other things that I'm still waiting to come in. I can't wait to incorporate them into some outfits to show you!
This Sentence: "Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo." Yes, it is a grammatically correct sentence, and yes it made me laugh randomly all night on Saturday. I found a Wikipedia page about it, and I just fell in love. Buffaloes are my favorite animal, and a whole sentence made out of the word is just too ridiculous not to laugh. Go ahead. Say it out loud. If you want to read about it, and what it means.. you can do that Here. I found it through StumbleUpon, which brings me to my next bulletin ..
StumbleUpon. I literally sat for at least an hour straight Stumbling things. It's so amazing what is out there on the internet. So many interesting, silly, exciting, beautiful things. Oh no. I think I may have an addiction. But seriously.. whoever created StumbleUpon, is an absolute genius.
Lee's Smokehouse BBQ. There's one tiny little place, in a tiny little town out here that has been discovered by Jonathan and I. And oh my gosh. If you were all able to go there, I would definitely recommend it! It's a little hole in the wall place, but Lee, who owns it, works it, and even has a custom gold chain around his neck of his logo, really really knows how to do barbeque. Delish! It was a nice change of pace on Thursday, and I definitely look forward to going back!

After a rainy, cold weekend, I needed something bright and cheery to compliment the beautiful weather!

When I bought this skirt, I had originally planned on shortening it. But then I decided I really liked wearing it long today. However, I think it'd look super cute with a bubble hem! What do you think? I just know that I really love it. And it has pockets! Ahh!
I also warned you that this shirt would show up again, and again. I don't think I'll be able to get enough of it.

This outfit was just too perfect for the day. I ran some errands after work, and now I'm hanging out with Jonathan. Tomorrow is my day off, and I'm sooo excited. When you have only one day a week off from work, you really appreciate those days. haha.

Target Practice..

Warning: This post is not what you would call "high fashion" by any means. hah. Not that many of mine are, but I think it's important to include my daily life in here, and I am not dressed up every single day. :]
Jonathan had bought the two of us some handguns, so what better way to spend a lovely afternoon than by having some target practice?

And of course, if something bad were to happen, it would happen to me. hah. I stepped in a fire ant hill and had to take my shoe off until they were gone. It was scary seeing them all bombarding my foot and leg! Ughh.

I love skater shoes, and band t-shirts, and jeans! I'm trying to start incorporating all of these things into prettier outfits, but it's so much easier (and lazy) to revert back to these when I think the weather's too gross for pictures, or whatever other excuse I have. Hey, I'm human.

Anyway! We had a great freakin time. And I felt like a badass learning how to shoot a gun. Next is our conceal and carry licenses. I'm excited! This is what happens when you live in Texas, people.

Megan Loves... (April 12-18)

New phones! Jonathan bought a new Blackberry, and gave me his old one! :] Yes, it's an older Blackberry, but it's still a way more advanced phone than I've ever had before. lol.
Online Shopping. Okay, so I spent some money on Forever 21's website on random jewelry. I had a super busy weekend at work, and I decided to treat myself to something I never spend money on. And I really feel like adding some more personalized accessories will really give my outfits the kick they need. I can't wait for it all to arrive and to show you! Ah!
Muse. I've always liked this band, but I'm entering obsessed mode almost. I'm currently listening to youtube videos of their Coachella performance. Oh to have been there! You girls that got to go are soo lucky.
Rain. NOT! It's freakin cold now because it rained aalllll weekend. But I think tomorrow will be sunny and warm again. So, that's what I really love.. looking forward to better weather.
The new Hanson music video. The song is called Thinkin 'Bout Somethin' and it is seriously amazing. The song is great, and the video makes me smile throughout the whole thing. I'm not kidding when I say they are my favorite band of all time. Ahhh.
The returns of Gossip Girl and Glee!! Ahhh! I have something to look forward to during the week, since apparently Weeds doesn't come back until August. :(

Weekend Preview...

I've been looking for a denim shirt for awhile now, and was hoping to just miraculously find one at a thrift store or something, maybe. But then on a trip to Walmart this morning for necessities, I stumbled upon this one, and it was on sale! Bingo! You should know by now that I don't care about the name on the tag, both the top and my leggings are from the Miley Cyrus Walmart collection, and hey.. they're cheap and cute. You can't beat that dude. I love it.

Not including my shoes, this outfit is under 20 bucks. Purse and all. Weekend Preview? Yes, I believe I will definitely be wearing some version of this outfit all weekend. Will it be washed? I don't know, dude. I'm not a fortune teller. But I do know you will most likely see this shirt again and again. Let's see how many ways Megan can style it up! I obviously took the easy route for the first time, I wanted to ease into my first denim shirt, and I thought how lovely to pair with some dark jeggings, get the denim on denim feel everyone's been talking about. What do you think?

So anyway, it's Friday, I have to work all weekend, as usual. But it's not so bad. The boyfriend and I are enjoying some Corona, and just placed an order for Domino's to bring us some pizza. I love that tracker. Amazing technology right there.

Neutral in Spring

This day started off really chilly, so I had been a bit worried about being able to get outside for some pictures without freezing to death. Luckily it's warmed up to a beautiful 66 degrees. haha. That's normally still too cold for me, but the wind finally died down, and there are zero clouds to block any sunshine. So I'm definitely loving it. :]
This outfit is a bit of a tribute to neutrals, and some of the trends of the season I've been seeing. I found these high-waisted trousers at Goodwill and snagged them up. I had been dreaming of finding the perfect pair, and I think these are it. Flat front, pockets, tapered leg, and the right weight of fabric. I love them!

This top might end up being my favorite thing to wear this summer. Although, it's not really a shirt! I tricked you. It's a dress. But it's just a little too body-con for me to wear that way. So for now, it functions as a super cute tank top. I just love the open back with the bow details. Ahh.

I hardly ever wear anything that's not flats or tennis shoes of some kind. I've always been a little self conscious of my height, but hey.. why not wear shoes to make me over 6 feet tall? Right? Most girls try to make themselves look taller, but I'm still trying to be comfortable with the fact that I am. And because I never wear heels, wedges, anything, I've been having a heck of a time walking around normally in these babies. haha. But I guess practice makes perfect.

Anyway, finish this all off with a bracelet from Goodwill, and a belt that's also my mom's, and this may be the cheapest outfit, ever. hah. Okay, maybe not really.. but it's probably pretty dang close.

I have to gush for a minute about how much I really love these pictures. Thank you so much, Jonathan. It's our day off together and he doesn't think I'm crazy for wanting to spend it getting all dolled up and taking a bunch of pictures of me for the purpose of doing something as silly and frivolous as a style blog. haha. His support throughout this beginning process has been amazing. :]

Easy-Breezy&Simple has been the description for my wardrobe as of late, I apologize for the unintended hiatus, but (here come the excuses!) my allergies have been on the WAR PATH, the weather has been so up and down, and honestly, I've just been consumed with other things. Those other things may be, but are not limited to: The Twilight Saga (including Midnight Sun. Swoon), beginning my very own fiction novel (more info in the future, I'm sure), and just plain laziness. Hey, I'm human.

I also wanted to point out that although the sky is blue, and the sun is bright, I was FREEZING during these photos. haha. I just don't understand how it's over 80 degrees from noon to 6, and then it's in the forties! What?

Oh! Uhmm, outfit? Okay. It's pretty simple.. I had a little bit of layering action going on, wearing my new favorite jeans. And of course TOMS, best shoes ever made. hah. I also decided to blog-debut the topknot that you've seen around on other gals. I've been wearing it to work, with and without bangs, in lieu of a plain ponytail. Also, I'm in love love love with this belt. $1?! Yes ma'am. Who doesn't love some Goodwill action? I have some other great finds I'll be sharing with you very soon. I need to get a regular thrifting day into action.

My title? Oh, my uncle always thought he was very clever with his term of "cheesy grease-burgers" referring to fast food meals. And even though I would politely laugh, and think it was just mostly corny, that has stuck in my mind all of my life. So after finishing one from Wendy's, I thought it would be appropriate. I really shouldn't eat so much fast food. I feel so bad about it, especially after watching that factory farming documentary last night. Eesh. Cooking is just not a possibility right now. Is there any healthy option when you're not able to use a kitchen? I'd really like to know!

So, this is, in fact, my attempt at stripes and floral. I really liked it, judging by the look I got from Jonathan when he first saw me, I don't think he was quite as into it. haha. But the amazing man that he is, he still agreed to take my pictures for me. :] Thanks babe. Also, the first time I wore my hair like this to work, my friend Jacobi said "That hairstyle is.. interesting. Like, it's not something you would expect." lol. I don't know what that means, but thanks girl. I like to keep ya on your toes. It just reminds me that not everyone is always going to like everything I do, but that I do, and wear, and style things for myself, and no one else. Yay!

In Texas lately it has seriously been like living in the desert. The days are getting hot, but as soon as the sun starts to go down, it's freezing again. I don't know what's up, but it's getting annoying. Getting dressed has become a difficult task. This outfit was perfect for the daytime weather, and then a little inappropriate once the temperature dropped. Oops. hah. Oh well.

We talked about investing in some good cameras, also. Right now we're just using an Olympus point and shoot of some kind, it's actually my mom's. It's a good camera, but we could use better. So hopefully soon, if you can live through grainy, not quite as good pictures, then there will be much better ones in the future!! :] If you have any suggestions, pointers, etc, then feel free to send them my way.

These pictures are also from last week sometime. I've been living in the Edward and Bella hole. I just finished New Moon last night. I know, I'm such a sell-out. haha. I would even consider getting a Team Edward t-shirt. I read through New Moon so fast because I wanted to get to the part where Edward comes back. haha. It's not that I don't like Jacob, but I know what kind of relationship they have, I've had one of those. And I knew Edward hadn't given up on her, so I was just anxious to get them together again. haha. Wow, I can't believe after all this time of hating on the Twilight saga so much, I've become so consumed. And it's really not that Stephanie Meyer is that great of an author, but she definitely came up with one amazing story. So, kudos to her. I'm off to write my own novel now!! hahaha.

I cut my bangs! I guess it's not that big of a surprise, but I'm happy that I finally went through with it. It was totally on a whim Saturday morning before work, I just chopped them off. :]

This outfit is totally casual, but these are my favorite pants and shoes to wear during the warm months. I'm so so so glad it's finally warming up! When I took these pictures this morning the sky was covered in clouds, but still nice enough to show some skin. I love it! However, a huge thunderstorm is heading this way, and tomorrow is supposed to be cooler, yet sunny. You win some, you lose some. I'm just really enjoying the 70 degrees that we're getting now, because before you know it, it's going to be reaching over 100! ugh.

Anyway, so I totally had a great time showing off a tank top, and I love the crochet details on the back. I think it's really sweet.

In news of my personal life: I have been anti-Twilight since I first heard about it. Denouncing the books and the movies, and refusing to pay any attention to either of them. However, I am a firm believer in not judging something until you know about it. So, realizing I've been being a hypocrite, I asked my friend Alasun to let me borrow her copy of the Twilight book. I got it from her on Monday, and it will be finished by tonight. haha. I have to admit, it's really really really good. I'm pleasantly surprised. :] Have you read it? Or seen the movies? What do you think about them? I'm an avid reader, so of course I chose to read it first, and then maybe sometime soon I'll check out the film.

I don't find Robert Pattinson that attractive, but picturing him as Edward?! Perfection. hahah. I'm not a "twi-hard" as they are called, not even close. But I do give it some respect now. It has been a beautiful love story, and I'm such a mush!
So anyway, I just thought I'd share that with you and wonder if anyone else has gone through the same ordeal? Either with Twilight or another pop-culture phenom.

This last week has been a little crazy, and off balance. The weather decided to revert back to some winter tendencies. We actually got snow Saturday, the first official day of spring! And it snowed! What?!We're still dealing with the cold after effects, so I've been in a lot of jeans and sweaters.

Anyway, I thought I should still do a post since it's been quite awhile. These pictures are actually from about a week ago. But I liked this outfit. It was really lounge-y and comfortable. :]

Skirt Remix..

I know your eyeballs have been bombarded with green today, but why not just a little bit more? :]
This was my choice of St Patty's Day wear. Nice and simple, just like I like it.
This skirt is actually from my very first post, and yes, I've already re-worn it. It's too cute not to. And honestly was the only thing other than jeans that would've gone with this.

The top underneath my green one is actually a cute little dress I bought at Forever 21 not too long ago. There's enough green in it that I could have not put the shirt over it, however, it's still a little too chilly here to go full on tank top already. I can't wait until it is though, because this dress has the cutest detail ever that I can't wait to show you. :]

But I guess if you shop at Forever 21 enough you might've already seen it. If you have, just pretend like you haven't when I debut it, okay? haha.

This outfit did serve double-duty though. Not only is today St. Patrick's Day, but it is also
Jonathan's mom's birthday. Lucky gal. We got her to pose in a couple of photos with us. Yay!
