Like Living in the Desert..

"Hero Shot"

Jonathan told me to do some high kicks, hilarity ensued.Until he finally got the picture of me "kicking the tree" haha

Top- Gift from my friend's mom. $Free!/Skirt- Ross $6!/Tights- Target $7/Shoes- Wanted via Ross $10

So, this is, in fact, my attempt at stripes and floral. I really liked it, judging by the look I got from Jonathan when he first saw me, I don't think he was quite as into it. haha. But the amazing man that he is, he still agreed to take my pictures for me. :] Thanks babe. Also, the first time I wore my hair like this to work, my friend Jacobi said "That hairstyle is.. interesting. Like, it's not something you would expect." lol. I don't know what that means, but thanks girl. I like to keep ya on your toes. It just reminds me that not everyone is always going to like everything I do, but that I do, and wear, and style things for myself, and no one else. Yay!

In Texas lately it has seriously been like living in the desert. The days are getting hot, but as soon as the sun starts to go down, it's freezing again. I don't know what's up, but it's getting annoying. Getting dressed has become a difficult task. This outfit was perfect for the daytime weather, and then a little inappropriate once the temperature dropped. Oops. hah. Oh well.

We talked about investing in some good cameras, also. Right now we're just using an Olympus point and shoot of some kind, it's actually my mom's. It's a good camera, but we could use better. So hopefully soon, if you can live through grainy, not quite as good pictures, then there will be much better ones in the future!! :] If you have any suggestions, pointers, etc, then feel free to send them my way.

These pictures are also from last week sometime. I've been living in the Edward and Bella hole. I just finished New Moon last night. I know, I'm such a sell-out. haha. I would even consider getting a Team Edward t-shirt. I read through New Moon so fast because I wanted to get to the part where Edward comes back. haha. It's not that I don't like Jacob, but I know what kind of relationship they have, I've had one of those. And I knew Edward hadn't given up on her, so I was just anxious to get them together again. haha. Wow, I can't believe after all this time of hating on the Twilight saga so much, I've become so consumed. And it's really not that Stephanie Meyer is that great of an author, but she definitely came up with one amazing story. So, kudos to her. I'm off to write my own novel now!! hahaha.

Surprise!

Top-L.E.I. via Walmart $5!/Capris- From Ross, not sure on the brand right now/
Shoes- Keds borrowed from my mom

I cut my bangs! I guess it's not that big of a surprise, but I'm happy that I finally went through with it. It was totally on a whim Saturday morning before work, I just chopped them off. :]

This outfit is totally casual, but these are my favorite pants and shoes to wear during the warm months. I'm so so so glad it's finally warming up! When I took these pictures this morning the sky was covered in clouds, but still nice enough to show some skin. I love it! However, a huge thunderstorm is heading this way, and tomorrow is supposed to be cooler, yet sunny. You win some, you lose some. I'm just really enjoying the 70 degrees that we're getting now, because before you know it, it's going to be reaching over 100! ugh.

Anyway, so I totally had a great time showing off a tank top, and I love the crochet details on the back. I think it's really sweet.

In news of my personal life: I have been anti-Twilight since I first heard about it. Denouncing the books and the movies, and refusing to pay any attention to either of them. However, I am a firm believer in not judging something until you know about it. So, realizing I've been being a hypocrite, I asked my friend Alasun to let me borrow her copy of the Twilight book. I got it from her on Monday, and it will be finished by tonight. haha. I have to admit, it's really really really good. I'm pleasantly surprised. :] Have you read it? Or seen the movies? What do you think about them? I'm an avid reader, so of course I chose to read it first, and then maybe sometime soon I'll check out the film.

I don't find Robert Pattinson that attractive, but picturing him as Edward?! Perfection. hahah. I'm not a "twi-hard" as they are called, not even close. But I do give it some respect now. It has been a beautiful love story, and I'm such a mush!
So anyway, I just thought I'd share that with you and wonder if anyone else has gone through the same ordeal? Either with Twilight or another pop-culture phenom.

Alright, I'm off to brave the storm, and hope Jonathan gets home before it hits! Eek!

Out of the Loop..

This last week has been a little crazy, and off balance. The weather decided to revert back to some winter tendencies. We actually got snow Saturday, the first official day of spring! And it snowed! What?!We're still dealing with the cold after effects, so I've been in a lot of jeans and sweaters.

Anyway, I thought I should still do a post since it's been quite awhile. These pictures are actually from about a week ago. But I liked this outfit. It was really lounge-y and comfortable. :]

T-shirt- Abercrombie&Fitch from lost and found at my old job.hah./Plaid shirt- from Ross/Skirt- from Ross/Tights- Target/Shoes- Walmart/Sunglasses- Shake Junt

I love a plaid button-up and the skirt is like, sweatshirt material or something. haha. You can see that I'm very knowledgeable about these things. ;] I originally had on my TOMS with this, but decided I needed some black shoes, and honestly, those little sneakers are the only black shoes I actually own! Weird, right? I think it's time for some shopping. I've been saving up!

Alright, work is creeping up quicker and quicker on me. I guess I better get productive this morning. Have a happy Monday! Hopefully this week will be an awesome one.

Skirt Remix..

I know your eyeballs have been bombarded with green today, but why not just a little bit more? :]
This was my choice of St Patty's Day wear. Nice and simple, just like I like it.
This skirt is actually from my very first post, and yes, I've already re-worn it. It's too cute not to. And honestly was the only thing other than jeans that would've gone with this.

The top underneath my green one is actually a cute little dress I bought at Forever 21 not too long ago. There's enough green in it that I could have not put the shirt over it, however, it's still a little too chilly here to go full on tank top already. I can't wait until it is though, because this dress has the cutest detail ever that I can't wait to show you. :]

But I guess if you shop at Forever 21 enough you might've already seen it. If you have, just pretend like you haven't when I debut it, okay? haha.

This outfit did serve double-duty though. Not only is today St. Patrick's Day, but it is also
Jonathan's mom's birthday. Lucky gal. We got her to pose in a couple of photos with us. Yay!

Ms. Blanca and I.Her and Jonathan.Jonathan and I.

And then at the end of my little photo shoot, Jonathan decided for some reason that I needed to be more gangster. I don't really know how to pull that off, or if putting your hood up actually makes you more "hood". But I did my best. haha.Attitude! Kind of? No. Oh well.
P.S. I know I look a bit frazzled in these pictures, this is after work hair and makeup. haha.

Now we are just kickin' back and just enjoying the day with some beer and pizza, and then of course Ms. Blanca's chocolate birthday cake!

Alright, happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Be safe, and have a great time.

Untitled Due to Lazyness.

Sweater- Old Navy from a thrift store/Shirt- given to me $free!/Skirt- Ross $5/Belt- Mom's $free!/Tights- Forever 21 $6/Shoes- Walmart $14/Sunglasses- Target from lost and found at work $free! hah
Ah! Busy day.
Let me tell you something.. This outfit may look tame to most of you, but this is probably the most daring thing I've worn. I've had the skirt and top both for a long time, but have hardly worn either. And when I do wear this top, it's always with jeans. Out of nowhere I thought to throw this all together, and I'm really loving the way it came out.

It's definitely a big step for me. Yellow plaid with maroon corduroy and the flowered tights? Colors and patterns all in one! I'm pretty proud of myself. :] And I even got a compliment from the boy. <3

The shirt was given to me by my friend Mallori, thank you! I knew it would be perfect for something, I just hadn't figured it out yet. And then this skirt was bought at Ross, on sale, for 5 bucks. I had wanted it since it was $10, but wouldn't spend the money. haha. But when I found only one left that was marked down, I snatched it up, despite it being a couple sizes too big. For this outfit I hiked it up to be a high-waisted skirt and just safety pinned the back and used the belt to hold everything in place.

Alright, confession. Because I have to wear a uniform at work. So lame, I know. I plan my outfits early in the morning, put them on and take a few pictures, then get ready for work and change back into the outfit in the afternoon. Today I actually got off early enough that I was able to take a few more pictures during the warm afternoon! I loved it.
Then when Jonathan and I met up at his house, we left right away to go get him a tattoo! It turned out really good, and he's very happy with it, so I am too. :] I don't have any, yet. But I'm thinking I might finally put some of my ideas into action next time he goes. We'll just have to see!

With the Sun...

Comes a bright new day!

green tank- Ross/white shirt- Ross/jeggings- Miley Cyrus/Max Azria from Walmart/shoes- Roxy from Ross/headband- Claire's probably, but I don't remember.

We got most of the stress out of the way today, and I'm soo relieved. I know, it's boring to talk about the weather. But today is almost worth celebrating. Seriously perfect. I even got off work early enough to shower and put on something decent before coming to see Jonathan, and was able to take a few tripod pictures. I didn't really like them that much, only the top and bottom pictures were from then. Luckily I have an amazing photographer who takes my photos without complaint, and makes me look good! :] Thanks babe.

I met him up at his work which is at a big paintball field here. That's where the other pictures are from. I love being out there with all of the wooded areas. I can't wait for nature to come back to life so we can have some great photo shoots out there. It's such a cool place. One of his co-workers is into rc helicopters, so we took advantage of the beautiful day to go out and watch him fly one. So cool, and so much fun!

So, I know I've already posted these leggings, but they just felt so right for today. I have a feeling they're going to get a LOT of wear from me. I know my outfits have been pretty simple, I'm still learning how to do the mix-matching thing, and using accessories. I'll get there. I added in this headband for some interest. I've had it for a long time, and I don't know why, but I hardly ever wear it. I think that might change, though.

Here's some pictures from our lovely afternoon...

Jonathan is on the right, yes he is rocking those cowboy boots, hard. :D And wearing my favorite sunglasses that I let him borrow today because he forgot his.
It's pretty awesome, huh?

All in all this was a great day. Now we're at home, relaxing.

Oh, one of the highlights of today? Driving around with my windows down, and The Higher turned all the way up. :]

Have a great night!

Rainy Days and Mondays...

Don't always get me down, but sometimes they're just too much!
Especially this crazy weekend. I won't go into detail, but if you are a praying or hoping or wishing type of person, we could use some of that focused towards us. blah.

However, I really try to not ever focus on the negative and Mondays are my Megan Loves... day. So what do I love this week? I thought I'd do a music centered post. Music has always been a HUGE part of my life, so why would I leave it out of my blog? Since I've been so down, I think it's fitting to tell you the songs I love to listen to that put me in a good mood!

Megan Loves... (March 1-7)

  • "Pork and Beans" by Weezer. It's all about doing what you want and being who you are, despite what others think, or what might be "cool" at the moment. Always be true to yourself! Plus it's super catchy, like all of their songs. hah.
  • "Australia" and "When I Goosestep" by The Shins. They're both just sweet little ditties that make me smile every time I listen to them. The second song is from the Wicker Park soundtrack which is AMAZING, and if you haven't listened to it, or seen the movie even, I recommend doing both, immediately.
  • "DARE" by The Higher. Top 5 favorite band right here. This is the kind of song you listen to while you're cruising around with your windows down singing along with your best friend. :] And that goes for their whole "On Fire" album, really.
  • "Bite to Break Skin" by Senses Fail. Come on.. you remember when they were cool. Admit it. Yes, I still listen to them, and yes this song is completely different from the others. I call this my angry song, because it feels good to scream along at the top of your lungs to just get out all of that frustration that's been building up inside of you. Try it. I promise.
  • "MmmBop" by Hanson. You know I had to. Hanson is definitely another top 5 band. Will be until the day I die. And what makes your heart feel happier than hearing a song that takes you back to the good ol' days before you had any real responsibilities? Also, on a serious note, if you thought they had drifted off into obscurity, you're wrong. They're still making music, and it's still amazing! Just much more grown up, and it's definitely in the indie rock category now. So maybe you should listen to a few of their newer songs, you might be shocked!

Alright, well, there's a few of my "makes me feel better about life" songs. If I don't force myself to stop, we could be here all night. I really really love music.

I also love making a Twizzler straw to drink my Dr. Pepper with. :D

Alright, time to deal with the real world now. Boo!
If anybody at all reads this, then thank you! and if you have a happy song that's your favorite, why don't you share it with me?
Have a great night!

Jeans Kind of Weekend...

Happy Weekend!

As always, I'm going to be really busy and working late, so my weekend outfit almost always consists of jeans and some sort of top. I know, I'm so lazy! haha.

I have to wear a uniform when I'm at work, so not getting home until almost 6 o clock every saturday and sunday almost forces me to.

These jeans I got on sale from Old Navy (which is a place I hardly ever shop at) for 6 dollars! It was just a spur of the moment thing that I went in there one day about 4 years ago, and came out with these babies and a couple pairs of shoes. The hole in the knee is evidence of their age, but I think that just makes them better.

I actually took these pictures this morning before work, then had an idea and I'm wearing a better version of the outfit right now, but way too lazy and tired to retake any pictures, so here ya go. haha. Maybe next weekend I'll show off the revamped style. We'll just see.

Also, I left my glasses on! I never ever wear them, but Jonathan loves them on me, so I thought I'd see how they turned out in the pictures. I have to admit, I actually like them! Gives me some inspiration to wear them more often in the future.

Sweater- Wet Seal/Jeans- Old Navy$6!/Belt- Mom's/Shoes- Walmart $14!

Oh, one more thing, and then I'll shut up, I promise. hah. The inside pictures are because I love these vintage-y chairs and 70s looking curtains in my mom's house and I thought they added the perfect backdrop for the neutrals in my outfit. :]

Okay, I'm off to spend time with my love. <3

Windy Skirt Day

Let me start by saying that today is so completely beautiful, if it wasn't quite so windy, today would be perfect. I wish it could be this way all the time! So, I had planned for a little bit of a chill in the air with this outfit. Long sleeves and doubled up on tights (purple underneath the patterned black ones). Luckily all of the fabric is pretty light, so this turned out to be the perfect amount of clothes to be outside without a jacket or anything.

Although I said without the wind today would be perfect, WITH the wind, this skirt is perfect. The swing and movement in this skirt make it so much fun to wear, not to mention that amazing pattern. And I love the two layers to make it fuller.

There are those sunglasses again. I can't get enough of them. And these shoes go with almost everything I own. I love multipurpose things. Especially cute ones like these! The strap details with little buttons at the end? Simple but interesting. And I'm a sucker for metallic shoes.

Once again I want to thank Jonathan for playing photog and getting some great shots for me! <33
We have plans to laze around and just enjoy the day together. My favorite!!

Pearls and Plaid

This would have to be one of my favorite outfits. I think it has a little bit of grunge and sweet that mesh well together. But not tooo much sweet. hah.

If you read my first post, I briefly mentioned my best friend, Emiley. It was only briefly because I wasn't quite sure if we were still best friends or not. :(

But she called this morning! And we are! Just in case you were worried. haha.
My move to Texas has really put a rift in our relationship, and it really sucks, but I had to do what was right for me at the time. Although my plans have changed and I'm not moving back, I never intended to push that rift further apart, but that's what has happened unfortunately. However, I think we can start to close the gap again, it's just going to take some work, that I am ready and able to put in on my side as well now.

Anyway, I just thought I'd throw that in because it had been weighing on my mind. My very first table this morning at work were two old ladies who had been best friends for years and shared with me all of their great jokes and memories between them and each other's husbands. We laughed, and cried, and the lady on the right (her name was Mary) told me to never let go of my friendship. And I promised her I wouldn't.

Bahh. Sentiments! :]

Back to clothes. ahem.
Sequined cami-?/Blue long sleeved shirt- Outlaw from Ross/Plaid shirt- Loves Notes from Ross $7!/shorts- Abbey Dawn (yes.. Avril Lavigne's clothing line. don't laugh.) from Ross $5!/tights-WalMart/Shoes- TOMS/
Sunglasses- Target via lost and found at work. hah!/Necklace- Mom's

So yeah, I personally love the combination of the shorts, tights, the thumb holes in the sleeves, and then of course the plaid shirt (complete with pearl snap buttons!), and then the pearl necklace thrown on top to girl it up a little bit.

I also love the bright sunshine we've had all day!

And the enchilada pie that Jonathan's mom makes that he won't eat because there's tomatoes in it. haha. YUM!

Have a wonderful night!
